Scared shitless was an understatement.
“Who was chasing you?” she asks as she grabs my arms.
I look down the hallway.
“I don’t even know. He had on a mask.”
She nods.
“Okay, we have to find the exit.”
“Do you know where it is?” I ask, peeping my head to where she just appeared from.
“No.” she sighs. “They change the layout every year.”
“Okay, if we stick together, I’m sure we can put two and two together.”
“Right.” she says, and links our arms together.
The lights streamed down the hallway as we walk, and they seem to get dimmer and dimmer as we continued on.
A deep cackling laugh comes through the speaker, intertwining with the already creepy carnival music that plays.
We hit a dead end. and turn back around to try the other way when I hear a knock.
A knock?
I turn to where I heard it, but see nothing.
“Did you hear that?” I ask Willow.
“Yes.” she says back, and tugs me to keep walking.
The knock sounds again.
I turn my head to the noise.
But, all I see is my own terrified reflection staring back at me.
My eyes looked blown and the pink in my cheeks was prominent.
Knock.
I don’t move.
Willow walked up a little farther than me as I stare at my reflection.
Another knock.
The lights flicker.
I scream in surprise.
“Willow!”
Nothing.
I walk forward, or what I think is forward as I move towards where I last seen her.
