Someone.
Another hand settled over my mouth before the scream even made it out.
Every muscle in my body locked.
The lights flickered again.
The mask appeared beside my face in the mirror.
That fucking mask.
The one I’d though about more times than i would ever admit.
He stared at our reflection.
Then, slowly lifted one finger to where his lips would have been beneath it.
As if he was telling me to be quiet.
His tall frame towers over me, making me look shorter than normal. His shoulders stretch under the black long sleeve shirt that was under his tactical wear.
He was wearing the same outfit as he did the year before.
My eyes were wide as I tried to meet his through the mirror.
“Are you the same guy?” I whisper out, when he moves his finger away from his own mouth.
Nothing.
Of course.
He didn’t speak last year either.
My pulse jumps.
I watch as his head slowly tilts to the side.
“I remember you.” I say. “Do you remember me?”
What if this wasn’t the same guy, and I sounded crazy for talking to him like I knew him?
His head straightens.
My stomach flipped.
Shit.
“It’s you, isn’t it?”
He doesn’t move.
The lights flicker once.
Twice.
Then it goes dark.
A scream rips out of me when my sight gets taken away, and I back all the way against the closest wall.
