That was weird, I think as I process what my mom just said. I never thought to look up the place, but now my interest needed to be satisfied.
Grabbing my phone, I hit the Internet engine and type in the name of the carnival. Multiple articles pop up. Each of them says something similarly to what my mom said. Missing girl. Whispers of the town over. A bunch of things.
“What the hell?” I whisper out as I click on the first link.
It was an article written by a sister that said her sister went to the fair two years ago, and never came back.
My eyes widen as I read the statements.
The police found nothing, and they said they chalked it off to the girl ran away. Her picture was right under the article and a blonde woman, with green eyes stared back at me. Smiling. Unassuming.
There were several different statements made about how the girl ran away quite often, and that there was no definite cause for a search and rescue since she was over eighteen.
I put my phone down and a pit tightened in my stomach as I thought about that. I was going to willingly go to a carnival that has history with girls going missing?
I wonder if Willow knew about this.
Speaking of, a new notification pops up on my phone with a message from her.
“Are you dressed?”
Looking down at my underwear clad body, I respond back. “No, not yet. Why? Are you?”
Bubbles appear.
“Not yet. I don’t know what to wear.” she says with a crying emoji face.
“I’m just going to wear shorts and a tank top. It’s hot as hell outside.”
She thumbs up my message.
“What kind of shoes?” she says back.
I glance over to my sandals next to the closet.
“Sandals. What are you?”
Bubbles appear.
They disappear before reappearing.
“Something I can walk comfortably in. Maybe some tennis shoes. Maybe you should too. It’s going to be a long night.”
Tennis shoes?
I wear sandals all the time, I don’t think this should be any different before the image of two men in masks talking in the woods are brought back to my mind. I tried to track my brain with what was said, but I cant remember what the words were.
“Umm.. I think I have a pair. I mean, isn’t it just like a haunted attraction thing?”
She opens it and its left on read.
No bubbles.
For a minute.
I start to think she forget to message me back before the bubbles appear again.
“Yeah, but you know in some of the excursions, you might have to walk fast or even run because they get really into it.”
