“Because. I care about you.” she says to me.

What kind of encrypted stuff is happening here?

“Will-” I say and she sets the book down before grabbing my hands.

“Listen…” she says before she stops when we hear footsteps.

Five books were placed next to me, and the smell of aftershave clouds my nose.

“This is it.” Sebastian says.

She lets go of my hands before she gets to working and scanning the items.

“So…. Raven, is it?” he asks.

I turn to my left to see him standing pretty close to me.

“Mhmm.” I reply before taking a sip.

“Will you be attending our fair this summer?”

Our?

Flashes of orange and clowns fill my mind.

“Mhmm.”

A glint of sparkle gleams in his eyes.

“Oh, is that so?”

I stare back at him. “Yeah, I was there last year.”

“But, you didn’t stay for the carnival. Did you?”

Realization rocks my nervous system, and for some reason it didn’t register that this man in front of me could be the same one that scared and turned me on last year.

Squinting my eyes, I cock my head a little to the side. “I don’t know, did I?”

He opens his mouth to say something before Willow cuts him off. “She wasn’t of age yet. Now the total is $49.67.”

He doesn’t say anything further, but reaches in his pocket and pulls out his wallet. Sliding the card to her, she grabs it and slides it.

“Samuel!” he calls back to the back of the store.

I peer over his body to see where he was even at.

The guy in question walks out one of the back doors all way in the back, with a book in his hand.

“Add this as well.” he says when he reaches the counter.

Willow rolls her eyes at him before scanning it. She bags the books before handing them over to Sebastian.

“See you this weekend.” he says with a wink before they both head out of the shop.

I watch them leave before a voice pipes up.

“Is that boy giving you trouble again Willow?”
