Sullivan turned toward him.
“You should’ve stopped him.”
“I told him to leave her alone.”
“But, you didn’t stop him.”
“Because I didn’t want to start a fucking fight.”
Sullivan then does something scary.
He laughs.
It wasn’t a funny haha laugh, but a sarcastic one.
“He touched her.”
Sebastian looked at me, before turning back to his brother.
“I know.”
Sullivan stepped closer.
“Then fucking act like it.”
The room went silent.
Then, before I had the chance to say thank you, the sirens blare out.
Red and blue lights flashed through the windows.
The bar went even quieter.
Sullivan stood a few feet away from me, still breathing hard, blood streaked across his knuckles.
The other guy was still on the floor.
Two officers pushed through the crowd.
“Everybody back.”
Willow grabbed my arm.
I didn’t move.
My eyes stayed on Sullivan.
One of the officers crouched beside the guy on the floor.
“Sir, can you hear me?”
He groaned.
Another officer appeared.
“Who threw the first punch?”
Nobody answered.
