“I think he likes you.”
“Hm.”
“He spends the time grinning at you.”
“Hm.”
“A serious handsome devil, some may say.”
I ate another chip.
“Wait, so did all of you guys go to school together?”
She shakes her head.
“No, they went to the other school here. It was more a preppy, collegiate school, if you will.”
That was surprising until I remembered the Letterman jackets I’ve seen some of them wear.
“So, how much do you really know about him?”
“Quite a bit.” she sits up straighter. “Word gets around.”
Word?
“Like what?”
I was damn near leaned all the way in her face, wanting answers.
“I mean, I’m not blind. They are some good looking sons of bitches.”
I couldn’t help but bark out a laugh.
“I mean, I did date one of their cousins. Well, I guess two of them.”
Oh shit, I forgot about them.
Samuel and Justin.
She reaches forward and snags a chip from my bag.
“So, they grew up here?”
She shakes her head.
“No, they came around end of middle school, or early high school.”
Hmmm.
I had so many questions.
“Okay, back on topic missy.”
I laughed.
She grins as she held up another finger.
“Number two.”
