Me: Okay.
Turning to Chuston, I updated him again.
“We’re about to go in, Chus. We’re just waiting on my friend.”
“Okay.”
Seconds later, Jay walked out and over to my side. I hit the locks for him, and he opened the door.
“Wassup, beautiful?”
“Hey, you.”
Pulling me into his embrace, he hugged me tight and kissed my neck.
“You smell good.”
“Thank you.”
Pulling back from him, I turned to Chuston, who was watching me through the window.
“Come on, boo. We can go inside now.”
We walked up on the sidewalk, and Chuston stood by me.
“Jay, this is my godson, Chuston.”
“Hey, man. How you doing?” Jay greeted with his hand out.
Chuston slapped him five all cool and shit. “Hey, man.”
I laughed and placed my hand around his neck to walk him inside. Jay introduced us to the owner who cut Baby Jay’s hair and the barber who cut Justin’s hair. The place wasn’t too packed, leaving a few seats available in the waiting area.
“We’re back here,” he told us, gesturing to the fourth seat. “She should be out in a second. She had to take a call.”
“Oh, it’s a female?” I asked.
“Yeah. I didn’t wanna mention that, then you get skeptical.”
“No. All good. So long as she have him looking as good as you, I’m fine with it.”
“You know what the compliments do to me.”
“I know. I can see your head swelling already,” I joked.
He leaned over and whispered. “And not just the one on my shoulders.”
My lips formed a sly grin then dropped instantly when I heard a familiar voice.
“Aight. I’m ready.”
My entire body went still, and I almost didn’t want to look past Jay to see if the face matched the voice in question. But who the hell was I kidding? I knew it was Morgan. Jay went to turn around, and there she stood, a few feet away from us, eyes landing on me first.
“Jai?”
Before I could respond, Chuston looked around me.
“Aunty Jai, that’s Morgan. Hi, Morgan,” he spoke.
