“Did y’all get to the root of why she wants to take Jamison out of the school?”

“I owe you an apology.”

Her eyebrows rose, and she sat up, tucking her feet under her butt.

“You do? For what?”

“Yeah, I do. For India coming up to the school and coming at you.”

“I didn’t say she came at me.”

I gave her a knowing look. “You didn’t have to. I know her.”

“Well, you don’t have to apologize. She’s grown.”

“I don’t, but I gotta take responsibility for the part I played in why she’s moving like that.”

“Okay, go ‘head,” she let out slowly.

“While me and India been done relationship-wise, we never completely stopped fucking around. We’d become accustomed to co-parenting, arguing, then fucking. Not a relationship. No plans of getting back together. Just easily accessible.”

Jai’ana’s face remained neutral as she listened intently.

“When I started putting boundaries in place recently, she picked up on it.”

“Were those boundaries put in place once you started pursuing me?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, go ‘head.”

“I can’t sit here and act like she created the toxic situation herself. I played my part too. I never led her on though.”

I wanted to make that part clear. I never played with India’s feelings or made her think that we’d be rekindling any flames.

Jai’ana nodded slowly.

“I respect you being honest because you didn’t have to.”

I reached over and touched her thigh. “I did. I’m not a fan of letting my past dictate how I show up in the present or in my future.”

“Ummm, I think that kinda already happened.” She giggled.

“You know what I mean, girl.”

“I do. Now, I need to ask you something.”

“Go ‘head.”

“Are you done having sex with India? Even after your anger wears off from what happened tonight?”

“I was already done.”

“That’s not what I asked you.”

Grinning, I nodded. “I’m done.”

“Alright. Them other hoes may have let you play, but I don’t entertain the circus, Jamison. I’ll leave a nigga quicker than a Kardashian.”
