His hands close around my waist. “Yeah?”
“Yes, you impossible, controlling, arrogant mountain man.”
“Good.”
He kisses me.
The lodge erupts.
Someone whistles.
Archer shouts something obscene.
When Caleb finally lets me breathe, Sally is already climbing onto the stage.
“June.”
I stare at her. “What?”
“Wedding. June.”
“We just got engaged.”
“Exactly. We don’t have much time.”
“You are not planning my wedding.”
“I already have a binder.”
Of course she does.
Behind her, Archer holds up a handful of cash.
“I’m taking bets. Fifty says Mercer lasts three weeks before he drags her to a courthouse.”
“Two,” Knox says.
“Ten days,” Jace calls.
Caleb looks at me. “Tomorrow?”
I laugh and wrap my arms around his neck.
“Don’t even think about it.”
His mouth brushes mine. “Thinking about it.”
Around us, Devil’s Peak celebrates like this belongs to them too.
Maybe it does.
This town knew long before I did.
The town spent twenty years warning people about the Devil of Devil’s Peak. No one ever imagined the only woman brave enough to love him would become the one thing he’d protect more fiercely than the mountain itself.
The Devil didn’t win a bride at the auction.
Apparently, he found the only woman who could finally save him.
