“Enough.”
“Richard sent you.”
Neither answers.
They don’t have to.
The first man pulls zip ties from his pocket.
Panic hits hard. “No.”
He grabs my wrists.
“No!”
I fight harder.
“Caleb knows where I am.”
The lie comes fast.
Both men pause.
Good.
“He tracks my phone.”
Another lie.
“He knows everything I do.”
That one is unfortunately close to true.
The man with the black eyes laughs.
“Then he’ll be looking in town.”
My stomach drops.
They know about the note.
How?
He sees the realization on my face.
“Yeah.”
He tightens the zip tie.
“You’ve been easy to watch.”
Ice slides through my veins.
They drag me toward the truck.
“Where are you taking me?”
Neither answers.
