MINE.
“Yes, mine,” I thought as I stared at her, looking so tiny in Daemin’s arms.
All mine.
“No, beast. We have to share her with our pack brothers.”
But she’s been all his... all night.
“True. I want to hit him for that. But I can’t in front of her.”
Hold her. Take her from him and hold her close.
That was the plan. She was sleeping soundly, dressed in his clothes. I wanted to strip them off and replace them with mine. I wanted my scent on her, in her. I wanted to hold her close and breathe in her sweet scent.
“Move, so I can bring her inside,” Daemin insisted.
“Give her to me,” I demanded, reaching for her.
“She hasn’t given you permission to hold her yet,” Daemin told me, pissing me the fuck off.
“I’m going to hurt you,” I told him.
His smile widened, then he stared down at her and whispered, “Go ahead. She’s worth it, Z.”
I’d never seen such a soft look in his eyes before.
His gaze returned to mine. “We’ve finally found our Fated One,” he whispered. “I never imagined she could be this perfect.”
“I know,” I told him. “It feels... surreal.”
How could a guy like me, with an insane dragon, a guy who missed the old days, when I’d been a spy for my clan, free to kill and battle whenever I wanted, deserve such a beautiful mate?
For her, I’d willingly lay down my sword and live a prince’s life, leaving the dirty work to my enforcers. Zuri snuggled closer to Daemin and mumbled his name in her sleep. Jealousy shot through me.
“No fair,” I growled.
Shit! My words woke her. Daemin glared at me. I started to apologize, but then she looked over her shoulder at me, and suddenly I couldn’t speak. It had been this way on our wedding night also, when we’d strode into her room.
As Kai had talked to her, all I’d done was stare, too tongue-tied to speak. How could anyone be so beautiful? And her smell. I clenched my hands into fists as my dragon pushed me to tear her from Daemin’s arms and hold her close.
MINE. ALL MINE. WANT TO HOLD HER. NOW!
“Are we home?” she asked Daemin as she stretched and sat up in his lap.
“Yes, mate,” he told her.
Mate. He’d called her mate. I wanted to call her mate.
“Well, let’s go inside,” she said, leaning away from him.
Grab her, my dragon insisted.
I couldn’t just grab her. That wouldn’t be right.
“Zuri,” I started.
She looked over at me. “Yes?” she said, with none of the softness she’d gifted Daemin.
