Winter slipped her pants and shirt on then ventured back into the living room to peer outside again. Her wards were still glowing. She’d charged them earlier. They should last until tomorrow. Winter returned to her bedroom and climbed into bed. It wasn’t long after she pulled the covers up over her that she fell asleep.

When her eyes opened, she was in dreamland. She no longer referred to it as her nightmare. Those days, or rather, nights were long gone. Winter sat up and stared around her. She was greeted with a different scene from last night. Tonight, she was sitting on the bank of the river. She always woke up close to wherever Rhen was.

Tonight, she didn’t see him. A splash sounded off to her left, pulling her attention in that direction. Her heart started to race. There he was, emerging from the water looking like perfection. His long-wet hair was down and fell past his shoulders. He pushed strands of his hair out of his face as he walked from the water.

Droplets dripped down his skin. Her gaze followed them. Lower and lower they trickled until they reached the spot that always made her mouth water. There it is. A blush crept into her cheeks as she tore her gaze away from his cock. Yet, that didn’t stop her mind from thinking about it.

Damn, it wasn’t even hard and it still looked impressive. She stood up and dusted the sand off her pants as he approached. His muscles flexed as he walked. Winter tried not to think naughty thoughts. She really did. But it was hard not to when he looked good enough to eat, or lick. Licking sounded nice.

After so many nights together, she still hadn’t worked up the courage to do that. She hadn’t worked up the courage to lick him there. He smiled and her heart flipped over in her chest. How could a smile have so much power over her? It was a good thing he wasn’t real. She would hate to have another being consume her every thought the way he did.

“I’ve been waiting for you,” he told her.

“I’m here,” she replied.

“Are you hungry?”

She couldn’t care less about food right now. How could she even think about food with him standing naked before her. Winter shook her head.

“You’re sure? Because I can cook for…”

“I want you,” she blurted out, voice low, barely a whisper. Her eyes dropped to the sand, unable to meet his gaze after a confession like that. What had gotten into her tonight? What was making her this bold? Maybe he didn’t hear her.

“What did you say?”

Inwardly, she groaned. He’d heard her. If he hadn’t, his voice wouldn’t sound so strained. “Are you really going to make me say it again?”

He gripped her chin and lifted her head so she could stare up at him. “Repeat what you just said.”

Gone was the charming smile from seconds ago. The flirtatious tone in his voice had also disappeared. Before her stood bedroom Rhen, the dominant, controlling, possessive version of him. And that was precisely what she was hungry for.

“Don’t make me ask again,” he told her.

Calling on that boldness she’d felt earlier, she countered with, “Or what?”

“Excuse me?”

Winter swallowed. You’re a badass goddess. You got this. “You said don’t make you ask again. I said, or what?” The sentence had barely left her mouth when she found herself being lifted into his arms.

“Hey,” she called out, now pressed against his damp skin as he carried her back to his cave. “I was just asking a question. All you had to do was answer,” she wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I’m getting ready to answer,” he told her, voice low, deep.

“Use your words,” she told him. “Just verbalize your answer.” Her thumb rubbed up and down the back of his neck as she talked. It wasn’t an attempt at seduction. She just liked touching him. She did it without thinking. But when she felt him shiver, she knew she was in trouble. The good kind of trouble.

Through clenched teeth, he told her, “I don’t think you should do that.” When they stepped into the cave, their words echoed, resonating off the cave walls.

Cocking her head to the side, she asked, “Why?” Her question echoed, repeating over and over again before fading out. And still, he didn’t answer. “Why,” she asked again, truly wanting to hear his response.

His reply was a growl. A low, animalistic sound that sent a chill racing down her spine. She decided to shut up. Since he wasn’t going to use his words. Neither would she. She kept rubbing the back of his neck, enjoying the growls rumbling through his chest. He carried her down the long narrow path of the cave that led to his bedroom.

When they reached his room, he dropped her onto the bed. Her hair fell into her face. She pushed it out of the way in time to see him standing at the foot of the bed, flexing his hands. His muscles rippled as if he was trying to hold himself back from pouncing on her. Normally, the shy bedroom her would lie there and let him do whatever he wanted to her.

Tonight, she wanted to be the one to touch first, to kiss first, to lick first. She came onto her knees. His eyes were closed, but she knew he was aware of her every movement because as she crawled across the bed, his body tensed. She stopped just shy of the edge of the bed. His cock jutted out, standing at attention.

She wanted to salute it, her commander in chief. She didn’t. That would be silly of her. Holding her giggle inside, she leaned forward and pressed a feather light kiss to the tip of his length. His body shuddered. His cock jerked, saluting her. She smiled. Perhaps it was time for her to treat him like he was her possession.

He did belong to her, just as she belonged to him in dreamland. He was hers to do with as she wanted and right now, she wanted his cock in her mouth. Each night, he’d feasted on her. But, she’d been too shy to do this to him. Too shy to open her mouth and take him in. Too shy to caress his length with her tongue.
