“Get the deck.”
“You get the deck.”
“You just don’t know how to follow orders, do you?” His mind went back to a time when she was great at following orders, in the bedroom. The blush in her cheeks let him know her mind had drifted to the same scenario. He stood up.
“Sit down,” she told him. “I’ll get the cards. They’re mine anyway.”
He sat down. His eyes strayed to her ass when she stood up and walked across the room. His mate had indeed put on some weight. As she walked, her hips swayed from side to side. Outside, it had begun to snow again. His mate bent over and grabbed the cards. Rhen smiled.
It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Chapter Sixteen
Rhen
“You lost,” he told her.
“But…” She stared down at the cards then back up at him. “You cheated.”
“Prove it.”
“I had the better hand.”
“You had a great hand, Kitten. But it’s obvious that I had the better hand.” Her eyes flashed red. His Kitten was competitive. He liked that.
“Rhen Fujisaki, did you hide some cards?”
“Don’t be a sore loser, Kitten. I won. Fair and square. I get to pick what happens to Kaede.”
“But…”
“And the little spell you uttered prevents the loser from interfering with the winner’s plans, remember?” If her eyes flashed any brighter, he’d catch on fire. “You’re the one who insisted on saying the spell.”
“I didn’t trust you to follow the rules.”
“Now look who’s trying to break the rules. My rebel Kitten.”
“I’m not your kitten.”
Purring sounded. Coming from her. A blush flooded her cheeks. Rhen didn’t even try to hide his smile. He felt like he’d been smiling all night. “It seems your inner animal is happy to be my kitten.”
“Shut the hell up and deal again.”
Shuffling the deck, he asked, “Same rules?”
“Of course.”
She was playing right into his plans. “I’ve already won what I wanted. What am I playing for now?”
“What else do you want?”
You. All of you. Every day. Every night. Forever. Most importantly, I want your forgiveness.
“What do you want, Rhen?”
He cleared his throat. “If I win, I want…” He couldn’t say what he really wanted. It was too early in the game. “I want you to let me go down on you.” Fuck it. You only live once. Unless you’re a vampire. Which Kaede would be soon. Her mouth dropped open upon hearing what he wanted.
She frowned. “I don’t think I heard you correctly.”
