“It may haunt you. It doesn’t haunt me. Not anymore. I learned a lesson. Now, I act accordingly.”

“How am I supposed to act?”

“However, you want to act.”

He turned to face her, “You sure?”

That dark look in his eyes reminded her of dream Rhen. Forget that, in reminded her of bedroom Rhen.

“I want bedroom Rhen,” Vicky begged.

Ignoring his question and Vicky, she nodded to her couch. “Have a seat. Would you like anything to drink?” Winter winced. Why had she asked that? There was nothing for him to drink in her home.

“He can drink us,” Vicky purred.

“We are not on the menu,” Winter yelled to her inner demon. To Rhen she said, “Sorry.”

He shook his head. “No worries. I’m not hungry.”

Winter couldn’t help but wonder who he’d fed on. She’d like the setup he’d had with Sinclair. She hadn’t minded him getting blood from Sin. Though Rhen tried to pretend otherwise, she knew he didn’t really like Sin. Their arrangement was purely platonic. It was those other hoes that bothered her. Ugh, what she meant was, they bothered Vicky and War.

“Liar,” Vicky growled. “You’re such a bad hostess. He’s clearly hungry. Feed him.”

“I don’t have anything to feed him.”

“Uh, we’ve got plenty of pussy. Do you need me to take over and feed him?”

“You better not!” Feeling panicked, Winter forced a smile and told Rhen, “I’m going to, uh, step into the bathroom for a quick second.”

“Take your time. We’ve got all night.”

“You heard that? He said we’ve got all night. That means he plans to stay all night long. Call him daddy. Say, ‘Yes, daddy.’ Men like it when you call them daddy.”

Winter whirled around and walked as fast as she could to her bathroom, damn near sprinting.

“Okay, if you don’t want to call him daddy, at least call him sir. Say, ‘Yes sir, Rhen.’ I like that one better.”

Problem was, so did Winter.

Chapter Thirteen

Winter

Winter slammed her bathroom door shut.

With her back pressed against the door, she stared at the clock on her wall. Her latest potion was almost ready. In less than an hour, she’d know whether or not she’d finally come up with a potion that could sever the connection between mates. She desperately needed her and Rhen’s connection served, because her inner demon was getting out of control.

“How so?” Vicky purred.

“You just told me to call my enemy daddy!”

“I mean, we are his good girl.”

“You’re insane. I’m going to stop watching television. That’s where you’re getting this from. Television.”

“Why are you being like this? He’s apologized over a thousand times and given us a thousand gifts. Why can’t we let bygones be bygones?”

“Because of him, we were nearly gone. As in permanently eliminated. I’ll never forget what he did to me.”
