“Yeah. I train most days too.”

“No one told me about the training.”

“It’s offered some morning and some afternoons. You have to sign up for a class. The others have been trying to get Kaede to teach a class or at least come to one and aide in the lessons.”

“But he’s been so caught up with me that he hasn’t been able to help. I bet they blame me, huh?”

“Of course, not. And don’t think of it like that. He’s newly mated. We all know he can’t return to his full work schedule yet. But this evening, Morgan, one of the trainers, wanted Kaede and Rhen to help out with a class. That’s probably what’s keeping Kaede.”

“Probably. Do you teach any of the classes?”

Lee shook her head. “I attend, but don’t teach. I don’t have that kind of patience.”

Laughing, Sin asked, “Do you want to help me take these desserts to the main compound kitchen?”

“That’s what I’m here for. I’ll take them all. They’re not heavy.”

“I’m going with you.”

“I was instructed to take the pies for you, Sin.”

“By Kaede, right?”

“Just give me the pies.”

“Lee, I’m going. I need some fresh air.”

“The air on this plane isn’t all that fresh.”

“You know what I mean.”

“Why can’t you just do what you’re told?”

“It’s not in my DNA.” Sin smiled at her friend. “Let me grab my jacket and put on my boots. If you leave before I come back, I will hunt you down and shave your head.”

Lee rolled her eyes. “Go ahead, shave my head. I’ve been meaning to get around to doing it anyway.”

“Don’t leave,” Sin ordered, eyeing her friend’s cute pixie haircut.

“Okay. Hurry up.”

Sin rushed to put on her coat and boots. Oh, how she missed her red scarf that her sister had made for her. It burned up in her cabin a couple of weeks ago, along with all of her other items. With a sigh, Sin returned to the kitchen.

“Let’s do this,” she told Lee.

“If Kaede gets mad at me, I’m going to tell him it’s your fault.”

“Yeah. Do that. Here, carry this.”

After they left the cabin, Sin placed her box on the ground, then locked her front door, and slid the key into her back pocket. She picked her box back up, and they began their trek to the main building of the compound. It was late in the afternoon, so there weren’t as many people out and about as there were in the morning.

That was a good thing. Whenever she did venture outside, the women of the compound swarmed her to ask her a dozen questions about her and Kaede. The majority of them always asked whether or not she really tried to torture Kaede when she first met him. The fact that he’d tried to kidnap her didn’t surprise them.

But, the fact that she’d tried to torture him did. Most of the women there believed females should be subservient to men. In their minds, the men were the protectors of the family while the females were the caregivers of the family. That shit worked for them. Not Sinclair. She could protect and care for her damn self.

Though their views irritated her, she didn’t let it show. They were free to believe whatever they wanted. She was raised to never look down on another person’s beliefs. She wasn’t wrong for what she believed. But neither was they.

That’s why she always answered their questions with a smile plastered on her face. They were nice people. Their difference of opinions plus her being an introvert and not fond of large gatherings weren’t their fault. And to think, she’d once wanted to leave her small town in Mississippi and move to a big city.
