“What are you feeling?”
“Yeah,” Rhen chimed in. “Let’s talk about our feelings.”
“Shut up, Rhen.”
“Come on, little draggy.” Rhen joked.
“Don’t call me that,” Kaede roared.
“What? Little or Draggy?”
“Both.”
“Sorry. I like those names. I think I’m sticking with them.”
“What if I call you, little vampy or little fangy?”
“Do so, and die.”
“Okay, vampy.”
“Draggy.”
“Do you two hear yourselves?” Morgan looked back and forth between the two of them. “No wonder Takeo turned down the offer to work with you two. Two grown ass males acting like babes. Get your shit together. Both of you.”
Rhen grinned. Kaede looked away from him. The mere sight of the vampire irritated him. Morgan was right. He was behaving childishly. Rhen always brought out the worse in him. He didn’t know why Sinclair isn’t on being the male’s friend. But because his mate asked him not to kill the vampire, he was going to let Rhen live.
“I thought you two were getting along better?” Morg asked.
“Never,” Rhen and Kaede said in unison.
“You don’t get along because you’re so much alike. Stop arguing with Rhen for a moment and tell us about what you feel, Kaede.”
“What I feel?”
“Yeah,” Morgan nodded. “Feel. What do you feel on the inside?”
Kaede didn’t know how to explain how he felt inside.
“He doesn’t know how,” Rhen said, seeing right through him.
I want to burn him alive.
Kaede held in his growl and began to pace up and down the training room floor. His mind was racing. His thoughts were too chaotic for him to understand them. If he couldn’t understand them, how was he supposed to verbalize them to someone else? It was during times like this that he realized talking was overrated.
We do not have to talk to them. We do not have to share our feelings with them. Morgan never shares his feelings.
“Because he doesn’t have any.”
The vampire doesn’t share his. Except for that one time.
“Yeah. That one time that he opened up about his mate and what he did to her when he was caught up in blood lust.”
Perhaps… perhaps sharing our feelings would help. We’re not doing this for us. We’re doing it for our Treasure.
“For our treasure.”
For his treasure, he could open up about his deepest thoughts and fears. Kaede took a deep breath.
