“I’m not. I’m just a firm believer in judging people based on their deeds and nothing else. Rhen can be a jerk. And yes, he’s a vampire. Yes, they drink blood. But, I’ve never seen him kill someone who didn’t deserve it. And he’s never hurt me. Yes, I’m careful around him. But that’s only because I know he likes my blood. But, I don’t believe he’ll ever do anything to hurt me.”

“Unless he gets hungry enough.”

“That could be said for most shifters too. They eat meat. So, if they get hungry enough, guess what? We’re meat.”

“You’ve got an answer for everything.”

“Just saying.”

“Yeah, yeah. I’ll quit talking about your precious Rhen.”

“He’s not my precious Rhen.”

Carolee laughed, but didn’t say anything else about Rhen. Sin wasn’t defending him because he was precious to her. Not in the way Carolee made it seem. But Rhen was her friend. He’d helped her through some rough times over the past two years. Like Lee, Sin was wary of him.

And yeah, she knew things could go south if Rhen ever got too hungry in her presence. One thing she noticed about Rhen was that he kept his distance from her when he was hungry. Still, when he was around, she was always on high alert. Though some of what Lee said was true, Sin wasn’t one to allow others to talk badly about her friends.

At least, not in front of her. Rhen was a friend. And for that reason, she’d always defend him, unless he did something that forced her to stop defending him. Same for Lee, Sin would always defend her, unless she did something to force Sin to stop defending her. Lee used magic to open the kitchen door. They stepped inside, and then Sin paused. This bitch.

“Hey, Lee. Hey, Senobia,” Jen, the succu-bitch said.

“Her name is Sincla…” Lee started.

“She knows my name,” Sin interrupted her friend. “But if she can’t get it right, then she can just call me Kaede’s mate. I answer to that too.” Sin smiled.

Take that, succu-bitch.
