Stick to the plan, witch. Ignore that look in his dark eyes. Ignore how sexy he is. Ignore those sexy tattoos adorning his back and ass. Ignore his beautiful tan skin. Everything about him was perfect. Ignore what you’re feeling, she told herself.

Sin licked her lips and whispered, “Remove the cuffs. Let me touch you, mate.”

His eyes widened. It was the mate word that set him into action. He rose from between her legs and gripped the cuffs. For a second, she thought he was going to break them. Instead, he placed his thumbs on the side of them.

A light blinked and the cuffs clicked open. He caught them when they fell from her wrists. After tossing them onto the other side of the bed, he grabbed her wrists and gently massaged them.

“Did I hurt you?” He asked.

As if he cared. But he really sounded like he cared. Fuck his caring. She was no longer the prey. Her gaze rose to his. She was now the predator. And he was back to being her prey. He just didn’t know it yet.

“Please tell me I didn’t hurt you, treasure.”

Heartless. She had to be heartless. “No, you didn’t hurt me.”

“Good.”

“But I’m about to hurt you.”

She jerked her hands from his and rolled to the other side of the bed. His expression morphed into one of confusion and then rage when fire ignited in her palm. Fire wouldn’t hurt him and every time she tried to hurt him directly, she only hurt herself.

She had to play this smart if she wanted to defeat him and escape. Instead of tossing the ball of fire at him, she tossed it at the bed, causing her blanket of fur to erupt into flames. That damn thing hadn’t been cheap.

Neither was the price of freedom. She crawled off the bed. Her eyes never strayed from his. She watched him grab the blanket and inhale. His eyes never strayed from hers. He looked pissed off.

So, was she. She was pissed off because the fire from the blanket and the bed seemed to be melding with him. He was absorbing it. Fucking dragon. She’d already known fire wouldn’t work.

Perhaps ice would. Her ice dagger that Winter had given her was stored in the icebox. She just had to make it to the kitchen before he caught her. She took a step back.

“You were lying,” he said as he climbed off the bed. “You never wanted to touch me.”

I did.

“You didn’t enjoy me tasting you.”

I did.

“You lied to me so I would uncuff you.”

“You lied to me too,” Sin countered.

“When have I ever lied to you?” His roar caused the windows to shake.

“You tried to kidnap me.”

“You said I lied. That’s not a lie.” He stalked forward. “And I tried to kidnap you before I realized you were mine.”

She retreated. If she could just make it out the bedroom without him lunging for her, she would be able to seal him in the room. Her magic was acting weird when it came to him. She just had to get creative and use it on things around him.

“I apologized for what I did,” he told her.

“As if that makes everything better.”

“It should.”

“Why?” She was close to the bedroom door now. “Why should your apology make everything better?”

“Because it was a sincere apology. I admitted I was wrong.”
