Although our dating app was only a few years old, the company’s other divisions, including our global publishing arm, had existed for decades.

Had this Eleanor woman been living under a rock?

Admittedly, wherever she’d been hiding away, it suited her.

Unfortunately, it hadn’t escaped my attention that she was attractive.

Although her clothing looked like it belonged to her grandmother, Eleanor’s face was striking.

Despite not wearing a scrap of make-up, her brown skin was flawless, her dark eyes sparkled and her full, bare lips were captivating.

Speaking of lips, I couldn’t believe that she thought the Lip-Stick was real.

For a brief moment, I actually believed she was serious about wanting to get herself off in the meeting room because she hadn’t had time to do it on the way to the office.

Whilst I wasn’t a stranger to fucking in public, even I’d draw the line at masturbation on the Tube.

Not that I’d ever taken public transport, but that wasn’t the point.

Then I realised that she wasn’t an exhibitionist. She was just utterly clueless. This Eleanor woman had no idea what we did here. Worse still, she hadn’t even realised that all of the items on the meeting room table were sex toys.

I supposed I should be grateful that the new design of the Lip-Stick mini vibrator was so convincing. My brother, Oscar, who headed up the lingerie and sex toys division of Sated would be thrilled.

Seriously though. Had she really not heard of us?

And if she hadn’t, why wouldn’t she take two minutes to Google us?

It wasn’t difficult.

I tutted with disbelief.

The youth of today.

Christ.

I sounded like my father. I was thirty-seven, not seventy-seven. But it was true. These twenty-somethings were so entitled. They expected everything to fall into their laps.

This Eleanor woman thought she could just breeze in and get a job handed to her on a silver platter.

Thank fuck I could rely on Melissa to show her the door. Then Eleanor would learn a valuable lesson.

Researching a company was interview 101.

Sated International was a multi-billion-pound market leader with an impeccable reputation. We had standards to uphold. And we couldn’t maintain them if we allowed people who demonstrated zero attention to detail to work here. No matter how attractive they were.

Anyway, I didn’t have time to waste thinking about her.

‘Get Stefan up here,’ I called out to Valerie, my long-standing Executive Assistant whose desk was directly outside of my expansive corner office.

After that incident with Ms Entitled in the meeting room, I’d been too riled up to even close my office door when I’d stormed through it.

‘Please,’ Valerie called back.

‘I’m not in the mood for niceties,’ I grumbled.

‘You never are,’ she muttered before picking up the phone. ‘Stefan, Mr Devlin requests your presence in his office immediately, please. Thank you.’

Five minutes later, Stefan appeared at my door.
