Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Why did he have to look like that?
How was I supposed to concentrate and act businesslike when I had the world’s hottest man staring at me with those unfairly gorgeous blue eyes.
Focus.
I placed the laptop on his desk and turned the screen to face him.
‘So today, I’m here to talk about introducing—’
‘You can’t present like that,’ he interrupted. ‘Push your presentation to the screen so I can see your slides properly.’ He pressed a button and a screen appeared from the ceiling on the wall behind me.
‘Push it?’ I frowned. ‘I don’t know how to do that.’ I chastised myself for not asking someone in the IT department how to do this earlier.
‘Go into settings and connect from there.’ He huffed.
‘Okay.’ I reached for the laptop’s trackpad, just as an exasperated Mr Devlin did the same.
Our hands brushed and a jolt of electricity shot through me.
Whoa.
It was like I’d just put a wet finger into a live socket.
I looked up and as our eyes met, a wave of desire pulsed through me.
Flashbacks of the many fantasies I’d had about him invaded my thoughts.
If he knew the number of times I’d screamed his name since I started using those toys, he’d kick me out of his office.
‘Are you going to let me show you how to do it?’ He yanked his hand away.
‘Yes. Please. Sorry.’
I snapped out of my thoughts and let him walk me through the process.
Once it was set up, I started again.
‘So as I was saying, this presentation will explain the viability of an immersive, erotic short story app to add to the Sated Publishing portfolio. I’ll start by taking you through the market research and competitor analysis. Then I’ll explain what I propose Sated’s app offers, the unique selling points and how to create a buzz around it, before presenting the estimated investment and time frame required to bring the app to market.’
Throughout the presentation Mr Devlin occasionally nodded, but never spoke or asked questions. Maybe he was saving them until the end, which was a good thing as so far it was going well and I didn’t want to disrupt my flow.
But when I got to the Personalised Adventures slide, I paused.
This one was inspired by my own fantasies.
When I was listening to the audiobooks, it wasn’t the characters’ stories I was picturing. It was my own.
When the narrator said ‘come for me,’ he wasn’t talking to the female main character. I imagined he was talking to me.
The dirty talk was always directed at me.
It wasn’t Fallon being fucked in that dingy bar against the toilet wall.
It was me.
That made the experience more intense.
