‘Take us straight to the office, please, Geoff,’ Oscar said as we slid hastily onto the backseat.

He’d already called an emergency crisis meeting with the head of PR, HR and legal to discuss implementing a damage control action plan and next steps.

Oscar pulled out his phone and sighed. Undoubtedly because of the stories already online gossiping about me and Ellie rather than the app.

Fuck.

‘I’m texting Seb and Heath,’ he said. ‘They should be at the meeting too.’

I nodded.

My heart thundered against my ribcage. Normally I was strong and in control in a crisis, but I couldn’t think straight.

All I could think about was Ellie.

The look on her face when everyone was staring and pointing at her. And the people pushing cameras and phones in her face.

I ground my jaw. I should’ve protected her from this.

I should’ve told my brothers sooner.

‘I wished you’d told us,’ Oscar said softly. ‘We would’ve been happy for you.’

‘Really?’ I raised a brow. ‘Heath would beg to differ.’

‘He’ll calm down. He was just shocked. We all were.’

‘Can we talk about this later?’ I said.

I knew I’d have to face my brothers and my parents to explain myself.

And even when the board fired me, I still wanted to address the entire Sated team. I owed them that much.
