I’d love that! Then again, maybe we’ll be otherwise engaged!
I added the winking emoji.
The jumping dots appeared in the message thread to show that Noah was typing. Then they disappeared.
Strange.
I waited for a reply.
Why had he stopped typing?
After a few minutes, a message finally popped up.
Noah
What time’s your date?
Me
Nine. How about you?
Noah
My date’s at nine too.
And my Love Alchemist let it slip that my date’s from London!
As I stared at the screen, my stomach tensed.
My date was at nine. Just like Noah’s.
And now he’d just said that his match was from London.
I was from London.
Shit.
Was Sammie right? Did I really come all the way to Santorini just to be matched with my best friend?

NOAH
So Ali’s dinner date was also at nine.
And obviously she was from London.
This wasn’t sounding good.
What if we were matched?
As I imagined the look of horror and disappointment on her face, my chest tightened.
Being rejected by any woman was hard enough, but the thought of being reminded how ridiculous Ali thought the idea of us being together romantically was, would be like a punch in the gut.
Maybe this was a bad idea.
I shouldn’t have put myself in this position.
