Durin did one better than that. He lifted me out of the chair and carried me to the bedroom. Pregnancy hadn’t turned me into the ‘cock monster’ but it also hadn’t totally demolished my libido either. So when Durin laid me down on the bed and stripped away my clothes and then his I was more than ready for a little time alone with him. Between setting up Omega Ward, taking care of the kids, and life, we hadn’t had as much time together as I’d have liked to. Then again, I could never get enough of this bear.

So, for a while, I lost myself to him. To his mouth on mine and then all over my body, leaving hot trails of pleasure and desire. I lost myself to his hands cradling me and caressing me and then his fingers moving inside me and sending little bolts of lightning throughout my body. Then we made love on our sides, with his big strong hand supporting my belly as his hard cock thrust into me from behind. I let go of everything else for just a few moments of time and basked in how far we’d come as true-mates and how we were still together against the odds. I let the sensations of his cock sliding inside me, eased by my slickness, take over my brain. It didn’t take long for the fire to build inside both of us. Even his slow, steady thrusts left my nails digging into his arm as everything inside me shuddered with delight. I came hard, his cock twitching inside me. He was close too. So damn close. His urgency rained down over our mating link and filled by brain. I rocked with him, riding out my orgasm as he sought his with his cock buried deep within my body. When he came everything inside me reached out for him. His pleasure rained down over me over our mating link. It all left me a little weak in the knees and panting. I fell asleep in his arms and woke up with his laughter in the kitchen with the kids and Raziel.

After the accident, our lives fell into a closer rhythm than ever. I kept my volunteer work to being available via text a few hours a day. I didn’t get a lot of texts, because most people called. The texts I did get usually needed to be forward to an omega midwife, because while I thought I knew what the answers were, I wasn’t here to give medical advice and accidentally hurt someone.

After a few weeks passed, Raziel was around less and less and that was okay. We didn’t need him forever even if I liked having him around. He had his own life and his own problems to work out.

I barely had time to notice he wasn’t around as much as he once was, because Clyde was around so much. The more pregnant I grew, the more I saw him. His visits became more frequent in that slow almost imperceptible way and by my seventh month, he was coming twice a week because my baby was big.

“Is that a bad thing?” I asked. “Lots of bear cubs are big right? It just means I’m eating enough and stuff, right?”

“Well, yes, but also it means he might come sooner than we think,” Clyde said. “He’s head down.”

“But he’d be like two months early,” I said, looking around for something to grab onto and finding Durin’s hand waiting for me on the back of the sofa like always.

“Okay, deep breath,” Clyde said. “When it comes to shifters babies times aren’t set in stone. Maybe they were once upon a time, but now, with how much we’ve all mixed together, it’s not as certain as it once was. Your parents were bears and Durin’s parents were bears, but I bet if we dug back there’d be some wolf, fox, or something and that can affect the gestation time. What we have to look for instead is growth of the baby. Not just his size, but his development and honestly, if I had to put him on a normal bear cub’s timeline, I’d put him at about eight to nine months. He could survive and thrive outside of your body, and I think he knows that from his position.”

“How soon are we talking, doc?” Durin asked when my words failed me.

“Eh, five to ten days at most,” Clyde said.

“Are we ready?” I asked, Durin almost sitting up, but stopping when I realized Clyde was still sliding his wand around my belly.

“Yeah,” Durin said after thinking about it for a few moments. “We have what we need. We know his name. We have a birth plan. We know who will watch the twins during. We’re meal prepped into infinity from Raziel cooking while he was here. Clyde knows where we live.”

“Like we have newborn diapers?” I asked.

“Yes and clothes and bottles and everything else.”

“I know I had a lot left over from the twins and we bought more….” I said as tears started to well up in my eyes.

“Okay, let’s think about it,” Clyde said. “If you run into something you don’t have, Durin can drive. I can get here pretty quickly. There are drone deliveries and both temples make runs. Alby, Bennie, Raziel, and others. You have the most important things – yourselves, a safe and warm house, formula if for some reason the baby needs it, diapers and wipes, and a place for the baby to sleep. Everything else is something you can get when you need it.”

“A car seat!” I said.

“I can go out and get a newborn car seat now---”

“Hang on,” Clyde said. “Do you still have the car seats from when the twins were brought home?” Clyde asked.

“Yeah, but don’t you always need new ones?” I asked.

“You need to know what’s happened to the car seat in the past, but if it’s never been in an accident or dropped hard enough to have damage, it’s okay to use it. You can buy a new one, but I’ll take a look at the little ones you already have if you like,” he said. “I know the boys are in bigger ones now.

“Thanks, Clyde,” I sighed.

“It’ll be alright. And just so you know, if you ever get a text or call for Omega Ward and someone needs a newborn car seat they can contact the leadership admin office of the Raven Hollow Wolves and they’ll get them one. Doesn’t matter which group they belong to. It’s something Kodiak started a few years back. All they need is an email from a doctor or midwife saying there is a child of car seat age and an address to have it delivered to,” Clyde said.

“Wow,” I said.

“Yeah. I don’t know why I didn’t think to mention that before. They work with a lot of charities too, but if there isn’t anyone – they fill in the gaps. I think Silas agreed to it because his dad would’ve hated it.”

“Good reason,” I nodded.

That night after Baby Oaklan and Resin were tucked into their crib, Durin and I inventoried our supplies. He had been right. We had more than enough. So, I snacked on the sofa while he put together the new bassinet we ordered from the GGB a few weeks ago. It was made of real wood, but transported unassembled for easier drone shipping.

“I like watching you work with your hands,” I said. “It’s sexy.”
