“How am I supposed to know you after a couple weeks?”
Wow. That hurts. I feel like I know everything about the man. I’m closer to him than any of my previous boyfriends. But that’s because there was no noise to distract our time together. No life getting in our way. We’ve been spending every waking moment talking and getting closer. At least, that’s what I thought was happening.
“I’m sorry. I thought me sharing every detail of my life with you was enough.” I shove past him, and he follows me out of the bathroom.
“Just because you’ve told me about your childhood doesn’t prove I can trust you.”
Fuck that.
“Really? I’ve told you every single one of my secrets, secrets I’ve never told a soul. I even let you fuck me in the ass.” My voice rises to a shout. “Something I was afraid to do, but I trusted you. But I guess that’s not enough for you, huh? I guess I misunderstood what was happening here.”
I step inside his closet, slamming the door so he can’t see me dress. He’s an ass. Here I am pouring my heart out to him, allowing him to see parts of me I’ve never shown anyone, and he’s telling me he doesn’t know whether he can trust me. Fuck him.
I put on his sweatshirt, then search for his long johns which are the closest things to leggings I can find in his closet. I pull on the thick wool socks before storming out of the closet, slamming right into his chest.
“Move. You’re in my way.” I try to shove him back, but he doesn’t budge.
“I’m sorry.”
I stop.
Looking up.
“I have a hard time trusting, babe. It’s something I need to work on. But in the past, women have only been after me for my money or because they want to be connected to the family. You don’t want either. So, I don’t know whether you really want to be with me or if you’re just biding your time until your dad pays his debt. If I take you to town, you could try to leave me. And that shit scares me.”
At least I know I’m not alone in my feelings. Losing him scares me too.
“Leaving didn’t even cross my mind. But you saying you don’t know me, that hurt.”
“Fuck.” He wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me to him. “I shouldn’t have said what I did. I feel like I know you better than anyone. You’re more real with me than my sisters. And just so you know, I’ve shared more with you than even my mom knows. I was being an ass, and I’m sorry, babe.”
The words I’m sorry hit me in the left side of the chest every time he says it.
“You can trust me, Dag. I would never betray you.” The things he’s shared with me about the crimes he’s committed, they’ll go to my grave.
The only one I would ever cross is my father. But that’s because I think he’s an evil man. Dag told me what he does for a living. Everything the man owns has been bought with drug money. People’s lives have been ruined so my father could have another fucking car. As far as I’m concerned, that man could die of a heart attack and I’d be dancing on his grave.
“Does that mean you forgive me?” He gives me puppy dog eyes, and my whole body tingles.
“I think I could be swayed to accept your apology.”
He smirks.
“Let me see if this changes your mind.”
He drops down to his knees, pulling down my pants as he goes. Then he tucks his head right under the sweatshirt. His mouth knowing exactly how to make a girl forget all about the reason she was angry in the first place. His tongue wipes away my memory with every lick.
My body grows weak. My limbs feeling heavy as the pleasure builds. Then… I shatter in his arms, gripping his shoulders to keep myself from falling.
“That’s my good girl.” He places another soft kiss on my clit, then stands. “Do you forgive me now?”
“I don’t even remember what I was mad about.”
He chuckles, planting a kiss on my nose.
“Come on, babe. Let’s get you dressed, so we can go to town.”
I look up.
