A Trial By Blood

Ronan

Rose lay naked on top of me, the heat of her body, her silky hair against my skin lifting goose bumps all over me. She whimpered as she suckled at my throat.

I dragged my hand down her spine and gripped her round ass. “Bite,” I ordered, half-crazed, desperate for her to feed from me as an image of what happened in that club was on repeat in my head.

Rose groaned and rocked her hips, taking me deeper inside her as her little fangs finally bit down. My hips jerked up, forcing me deeper as pleasure spiked through me. Her tongue worked my vein, her lips sealing over the punctures she’d made and sucking deeply. I felt each pull in my gut, my balls, down the length of my shaft.

I gripped the back of her neck, holding her there. “That’s it, petal, take what you need from me. Take it all.”

She moaned and rolled her hips faster, lost to the pleasure I gave her, the pleasure she chased. There was almost something different about her tonight, a desperation to her movements, the way she clung to me, the way she’d looked into my eyes, that had my head spinning. Subtleties I would have missed once, but not anymore.

I felt her flutter around my cock, then she dragged her tongue over my throat and her head lifted. Her eyes were black, her bat eyes front and center. Her pale blond hair was wild around her flushed face. My blood coated her lips and dripped down her chin.

So incredibly beautiful.

At the sight of her like that, my cock thickened even more, grew harder, throbbing. She squeezed down on me, then cried out, rocking on top of me. Gasping, she tightened around me over and over. There was no holding back my own release, and I took her mouth in a bloody kiss.

Rose shook and cried out again against my lips. My groan was deep, my hips thrusting up, slamming inside her, each pull on my cock pumping her full of my seed until we were both spent.

She collapsed on top of me, and I wrapped my arms around her, tucking her head under my chin and holding her tight.

Her hand slid up my side, over my ribs, and she pressed her mouth to my chest. “I love you, Ronan.” She puffed out a soft breath. “Probably more than I think you can comprehend right now.”

My heart felt funny in my chest. I shifted my fingers through her hair. “I understand it perfectly, because I feel that way for you, petal.”

She lifted her head and rested her chin on her hand, looking up at me. “I know, but I think the longer you have your new emotions, the deeper you’ll feel them.”

“You think my love for you is less? Underdeveloped?”

She shook her head, her black eyes slowly returning to blue. “No, I know you love me at whatever capacity you’re capable of right now. It’s fierce and wild, and the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life.”

I frowned at her. “What are you saying?”

“I don’t know. Nothing.” Her lips curled up in a small smile. “I guess, as big as this feels now, it’s only going to get bigger. I feel it. And that’s a little scary.” She dipped her head, kissing my chest again before she looked back up. “If…anything happens to me…” She cleared her throat. “I just…I want to make sure you’re going to be okay.”

“Nothing’s going to happen to you,” I growled out. “I won’t let it.”

She leaned into me and pressed a kiss to my lips. “I know. It’s just…”

I brushed my thumb over her chin, over my blood still there, wiping it away. “It’s just, what?” My heart was beating erratically. I didn’t like this conversation.

Her gaze dipped, and when it came back to me, her eyes were black again, every part pure onyx. “I want you to promise me that if anything happens to me, you won’t hurt yourself. That you’ll go to Luna or the hounds and let them take care of you, that you’ll—”

“Stop saying that,” I snarled. “I can’t bear to think of it. I don’t want to talk about it.”

Her eyes grew wide, glossy. “I almost died, Ronan. I can’t help but think about it. Please, promise me.”

I took her face in my hands. “I cannot promise you that, my heart. If anything happened to you, I would lay waste to whoever hurt you, then I would follow you. Wherever you were, I would find a way to follow you. Understand?”

A tear slid down her cheek.

Alarm filled me. “Rose? What’s going on?”

She shook her head and lay back against my chest. “Nothing. I got a fright tonight, that’s all.”

I rubbed her back and held her tighter. “Nothing like that will ever happen again, I promise you.”

I held her tight, tighter than normal because she seemed to need it.
