“Can smell your pussy, dove. Offer it to me,” he demanded, his voice deeper, rougher, more urgent.
I didn’t answer, and he thrust his fingers into my hair and tilted my head back, making me look into those beautiful golden eyes again. I couldn’t speak, not when I saw the pleasure intensify on his face, the raw, untamed hunger.
I shook my head again. No. I couldn’t do that, I couldn’t give him that.
His fingers flexed in my hair, and tension, longing, lined his handsome face. “Keep your eyes on me.”
He wasn’t going to push me for more. Because Warrick would never hurt me, not intentionally, he only wanted to pleasure me. I knew that with every part of my being.
And I couldn’t look away, even if I wanted to, but that was the last thing I wanted. His warrior’s body was beautiful, flexing and straining for more of my touch, but his eyes held me transfixed. Spellbound. I wanted to see the way they looked when he came more than anything else.
His lips peeled back, revealing clenched teeth, his canines, sharp, extended. He fisted my hair tighter; the strands tugging at my scalp, and he came, shooting across his tight abs, and the sound he made was almost one of rage.
His chest was pumping, and through it all, he never looked away from me, not once.
Then finally, when he stopped pulsing in my hands, he hooked me around the waist, his other arm still keeping a hold on my hair, and brought me to my feet.
I tried to step back, but he held me fast, and when he dipped his head and I tried to pull back a second time, he wasn’t having it. That hold was relentless, not painful, but made it clear I wasn’t going anywhere. And I hated that his rough handling of me, that edge of the untamed, turned me on even more.
Then his mouth came down on mine in a hard, brutal kiss. His tongue swiping inside, feeding me a deep growl, one I was pretty sure was filled with frustration.
And the force of that kiss left me weak, breathless.
Finally, he eased back, touched his lips to mine once more, then lifted his head. “Denying me hurts us both.”
His words hit me like a physical blow, and I opened my mouth to say something, to protest, but he kissed me again, robbing me of words.
When he broke the kiss, he stared down at me, the need still there, barely diminished. “Let me touch you, dove. I need to make you come.”
I swallowed once, twice, self-preservation kicking in and gathering momentum. What the fuck was I doing? “No,” I rasped, finally finding my voice. “Nothing’s changed.”
He stilled, though I didn’t miss the tremor moving through his fighter’s body or the look on his face that could only be described as fury. It was kind of…terrifying. “Nothing’s changed?” he repeated.
“I drank too much wine,” I said lamely, and my face heated. Truthfully, adrenaline had well and truly burned up any alcohol left in my system, and that wasn’t why what happened had just happened, it was because this thing between us was growing stronger, more intense by the day, and seeing him injured like that, believing he was truly hurt for those few minutes, had caused my defenses to momentarily weaken.
The muscle in his cheek jumped. “The next time you touch my cock, I will fuck you, understand?” he said, his lips hovering just above mine, voice so deep I felt the words as well as heard them.
I nodded, and my nipples tightened, my traitorous body liking those harsh words, the threat I heard in them, when it was the last thing I should be feeling.
His gaze raked over me before his nostrils flared and he breathed deep, drawing in my scent. My face got hotter, and he watched me, lids lowered, eyes utterly predatory and filled with molten heat. He could smell how much I wanted him, of course he could. And for a moment, I thought he was going to kiss me again, but he released me this time and straightened.
I scrambled back, and he watched me do this, eyes narrowed, before he finally turned away and stalked back the way we came.
I followed, trying not to limp too much and draw Warrick’s notice. I really had done a number on my feet, and I thought that might just piss him off more.
The moonlight glinted off one of the stones surrounding the clearing, and that’s when I realized where we were. It was where the wolf shifters brought their females to mate, and why the wolves and witches of this area had always had a good relationship. Many, many years ago, in exchange for the pack’s loyalty, a witch had enchanted this spot. When a wolf found his true mate, invisible walls lifted, creating a hidden oasis for the pair to consummate for several days and nights.
What would that be like? I glanced up at Warrick and heat curled low in my belly, along with an urge to run to him that grew incredibly, terrifyingly strong.
Instead, I kept my distance—and my mouth shut—because I could see he was hanging by a very thin, very fragile thread, and I sure as hell wasn’t going to push him to breaking point.
I wasn’t ready to face the consequences.
What the hell had I done?
