Zen’s eyes narrowed. “If that’s the case, you’ll be eager to reclaim your throne, then?”

The warmth, the humor, the ever-present mischief in his yellow eyes vanished. “I know I fucked up, Zenon.”

“Then fix it,” Zen growled.

Lucifer’s expression turned to stone, his yellow eyes flashing black. Christ, his face became a mask of horrors, of the terrors he was capable of invoking if he chose to.

He looked away, dragging in a rough breath before he looked back at his grandson. “When I found out about you…when I left Hell to find you, I never expected Diemos to lock me out. I should have expected something, I just never thought he’d…” Lucifer shook his head. “I figured if he wanted the throne so fucking bad, he could have it for a while, maybe learn it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.” He shrugged. “But the ward he used, it was a powerful and ancient magic, and as time passed, it strengthened.” His jaw worked. “I can’t get back in, not even I’m strong enough to break through. I’m a fucking asshole, Zen, but not so much I’d allow my son to continue on the path he has chosen for himself.”

There was no missing how much that confession cost him. No one said anything because he wasn’t finished.

Lucifer’s gaze moved to each of the knights. “He needs to leave Hell for the magic to be disrupted and the ward to break. He does that, and you defeat him, then yes, I’ll go back to Hell. I’ll reclaim my throne.”

Thank fuck for that. But there was no missing the fact that Lucifer had no intention of helping them defeat Diemos. He still loved his son, as much as he loved his grandson. There was no forcing the rightful king of Hell to pick sides.

“Thank you,” Mia whispered, her voice shaky.

Lucifer’s expression changed instantly, the mask of horrors dropping when he turned to Zenon’s mate. He winked. “You’re my favorite granddaughter-in-law, you know that, right?”

She smiled. “I’m your only granddaughter-in-law.”

“Still makes you the most awesome. You want a pony, sweetheart? A fucking huge diamond? Anything, just name it, it’s yours.”

Mia laughed and Lucifer grinned at her.

Zenon scowled and cursed under his breath.

Okay, they needed to bring the conversation back on track. “Now that that’s sorted,” Rocco said. “We need to focus on getting T and Scar the fuck out of Hell.”

Lucifer turned to him. “And you think one of my girls can help?”

The doors to the balcony opened and they all turned as two females along with Silas walked in.

* * *

Kyler took in the females, Lucifer’s handmaids, standing beside the fallen angel.

Both seemed young, about her age. One was dressed in black leather from head to toe, had wild red hair, and was carrying an axe. The other was dressed very similar, but instead of black, her leather outfit was rich brown, and instead of spiked heels, she had on chunky blue boots that laced up to about mid-calf. She had black hair and blue eyes. She was also smaller, rounder, and instead of an axe, she had a long thin sword.

Her blue eyes came straight to Kyler, then to Eve, who was now pressed into Kyler’s side, and her grip on Kyler’s hand was tight. Kyler gripped hers back.

Because there was no missing the resemblance, not at all. And by the way Roc and Lazarus were standing there frozen in place, they saw it as well.

The black-haired female smiled suddenly, warm and wide, and clapped her hands together. “Oh my gosh! Look at them, Ursula! Aren’t they gorgeous?”

The redhead turned, her bright green eyes on Kyler and Eve, and they narrowed, her head tilted to the side and she shrugged. “Sure.”

Everyone stood there staring at each other, the room engulfed in silence.

“Fucking hell,” Lucifer muttered. “Roxy, baby doll, you need to tell them who you are,” he said to the dark-haired female.

“They don’t remember me?” she asked, eyeing Kyler and Eve.

“They were infants, Rox,” Lucifer said. “Of course they don’t remember you.”

“Oh, right.” She giggled. “I’m Roxy…I’m your, um…great-great-great…I’m not sure how many greats. Anyway, I’m your grandmother.”

Kyler cleared her throat, then again, because her throat was tight. “Both of us?”
