Silas froze, his silver eyes going kinda round, and fuck, the angel actually blushed. “What?” His throat worked. “I don’t know what you’re—”

“Stop,” Kryos said. “Silas, we know. It was obvious, like, right away. You went to see her when we were looking for ways to get Kyler home, and you were gone for days, brother. She brought you home in her car. We have security cameras all over the compound, and we check that shit. Even if I hadn’t seen her climb you like a tree, suck your brains out through your mouth, then pat you on the ass before she left, the goofy-as-fuck look on your face was enough to know what you’d been up to while you were gone.”

“Don’t forget the hickey,” Zenon added.

“I didn’t have a fucking hickey,” Silas said.

“Sorry, man, we all saw it,” Laz said and smirked.

Silas opened his mouth, then closed it.

“Brother, you’re going to pop something, don’t sweat it,” Roc said. “The only reason I ask is I have this theory. To open the portal, Kyler’s blood needs to make contact with one of Golath’s bones. But does it need to be a bone? Since the one Diemos had was destroyed, we need an alternative. Willow’s searching, but the chances of her finding another one aren’t good. But since Golath’s blood was used to create the handmaids, maybe their blood mixed with Kyler’s would have a similar effect?”

Silas’s silver eyes sharpened. “I don’t know…possibly. How long do we have?”

The time they had until they were supposed to try and free Scar and T. “A couple weeks. You think your female will help?”

Silas winced. “I’m not…ah, sure. I can try.”

“What did you do?” Laz muttered.

The angel dragged in a breath, then blew it out. “She has a twin, and I…I got them confused, and I ah—”

Chaos choked. “No, brother, you didn’t.”

“I didn’t sleep with her,” Silas said quickly. “But there was kissing and…touching before I realized my mistake.”

Silence filled the room.

Finally, Rocco turned to Zenon. “Maybe you could talk to Lucifer instead?”

Zenon scowled. Talking to his grandfather was not something he did willingly.

“No,” Silas said. “I can do it. Kyler isn’t just any demi-demon, she’s Hell’s gate. A direct descendant of the handmaids. One of them has to be the same bloodline as her, that has to count for something.”

Rocco wasn’t so sure. The handmaids were warriors, hard and skilled, ancient and cold. He sure as hell wasn’t expecting any grandmotherly feelings to suddenly surface. “Okay, I’ll leave it to you, but you better fucking grovel ’cause we need their help.”

“Don’t worry, I got this—”

The door opened and Kyler, along with Mia and Eve, walked in. Rocco scanned Kyler’s face. She looked tired. She was still having nightmares, sometimes she woke screaming, but usually she would roll into him, getting as close as she could in her sleep and calmed.

“Oh hey,” Eve said. “I didn’t realize you guys were all in here. You need more time? We can come back later.”

Laz moved to his mate. “All good, sweetheart, we’re done.”

Mia rushed over to Zenon, looking concerned, and the male quickly glanced down, hiding his eyes. Kyler didn’t know that Diemos was Zenon’s father, but they couldn’t keep hiding it. It wasn’t fair to Zenon or Mia.

“We need to be somewhere,” Mia said, and Zenon took her hand and, gaze still lowered, they headed for the door.

Kyler turned, watching them, a concerned look on her face.

Roc moved to her. “You wanna get some food?”

Her hand lightly grazed his arm and she nodded. The touches were becoming more frequent with less effort, and Rocco fucking loved it. That she was seeking reassurance from him through touch, that she was actually getting it when she did touch him was huge, and yeah, it soothed him and his demon both.

They walked through the doors and found Mia and Zen paused in the hall. Mia had her hands on his chest, head tilted back, and Zen was looking down at her. Her expression was pained, but not as pained as Zen’s.

Kyler started moving toward them quickly, and Roc rushed after her. “Hang on a minute, Ky.”
