With a growl, he moved up her body, covering her, and she locked her legs around his waist.

“Take me,” she rasped. “I need you inside me, now.”

Rocco gave her what she wanted, what they both needed, and locking eyes with his mate, filled her in one smooth thrust of his hips. Her mouth fell open on a cry, and Rocco supported himself on his elbows, his hands cradling her precious face as he moved inside her.

She lifted her hips, taking him right back, claiming him like he was claiming her all over again.

“I love you,” she whispered.

“I fucking love you,” he rasped back.

Then they said no more. They let go, watching each other come apart, not looking away, never looking away.

* * *

Kyler ran her fingers along Rocco’s forehead and down the side of his face. She cupped his cheek when his gaze slid to her, but she said nothing, and neither did he.

They’d spent the night making love, and most of the day. Rocco’s brothers were still in their own apartments. None of them had surfaced, soaking up every moment they could with their females. They’d gone over what would happen when they got there today so many times, there was no way any of them would forget it. They all had a part to play, and no matter what happened, they had to stick to the plan.

They had to hold their ground.

It was nearly time.

Now Kyler had to bring up something Rocco would not want to hear, but she needed to tell him, she needed him to know. Her body was half on his, her head on the pillow beside him, and she leaned in and gave him a kiss.

“I saw someone yesterday,” she said.

She’d called Jack, the doctor the knights sometimes used, to the compound after Rocco left, and he’d been kind enough to come straight away. She wasn’t going to share who she’d talked to with Rocco, though, for Jack’s sake.

Rocco jerked, his eyes growing intense. “What? Who? What’s going on?”

“There’s nothing to be concerned about,” she said quickly. “It was someone I knew I could trust. They brought something to me, something I’d asked them about weeks ago, after Diemos said he was…that he was coming for me.” Jack had gotten her what she needed from a witch he knew. She hadn’t asked Willow for fear she’d tell Rocco out of loyalty, but mostly she hadn’t wanted to put the other female in that position.

“What’s going on, Ky?”

“We both know anything could happen today.”

Rocco sat up, and Kyler went with him. “Ky…”

“Please, I need you to hear me out.” He hadn’t wanted to talk about what could happen tonight, and she got that, but she needed him to know she would be okay, no matter what happened, she would be safe from Diemos.

He sucked in a breath. “Okay, I’m listening. Talk to me.”

She took his hand and looked him in the eyes. There was no sugarcoating this. “We’re going to fight tonight; we’re going to give this everything we have. God, I have visions of us all making it home later tonight, of it all being over, but, Roc, if I’m wrong, if that’s not what happens and Diemos succeeds…”

Then everyone you love will end up in Hell.

She’d asked Silas about it weeks ago. But he’d assured her, if that happened, and she died as well, she wouldn’t have to worry about Diemos. In the fallen angel’s own words, while that fucker is burning shit to the ground here, Lucifer will be reclaiming his throne in Hell.

“Baby,” Rocco rasped. “You don’t need to…”

“I have to tell you, please, let me say what I have to say.”

He dipped his chin, but there was no missing the tremble moving through his massive body.

“If he somehow prevents me from dying, just so he can hurt me again… If he makes it so I’m the only one left standing because he wants me back with him…” She shook her head. “You need to know, he won’t win. I won’t let him touch me again, Rocco. I won’t let him near me again. I’ll be gone before he can reach me.”

“What do you mean…gone?” Rocco asked, his gaze searching hers.
