He sat up against the headboard and rolled on a condom. “You’re welcome to peruse my merchandise anytime.” Then he crawled over her on all fours, took her right hand, and placed it on his erection.

She’d been so busy gazing at him that she’d forgotten to touch him, and now she made up for it. She eagerly ran her hand up and down his shaft, enjoying its fullness in her grip. Then she cupped his package with her other hand, which caused him to emit a loud groan.

“Good?” she asked, repeating his question from earlier.

“Oh, yeah.”

Using her hands, she whipped him into a frenzy. Then he suddenly tore them away and lined himself up with her entrance, looking like he couldn’t wait another second. She was ready and spread her legs wider to receive him.

He entered her in one deep thrust and then looked apologetic. She responded by cupping his face and pulling him down for a kiss. His worries seemed to melt away, and he began thrusting in earnest while she urged him on. His body tensed, and she gripped his buttocks and pulled him in as deep as he could go. He let out a loud growl that reminded her of the bears in the surrounding mountains. She held him close as he pulsed inside her, pouring out his release.

Once he was spent, he carefully rolled off her and sighed. Their eyes met, and they exchanged a look that reflected a myriad of emotions, including immense pleasure, satisfaction, and something else that, as of now, went unnamed.

Even as she smiled, she couldn’t ignore the fear that niggled at the back of her mind. She’d just made love with her best friend. Now what?

Twenty-One

Cody gazed at her, incredulous. “Did that really just happen?”

She smiled. “Yes, unless we were both dreaming the same thing at the same time.”

“I should probably clean up.”

“Okay.”

He rolled off the bed and walked toward the bathroom, but then he turned back around. She was lying on her side, her head propped in her hand as she watched him go. My friend Maddie. Naked. In my bed. She smiled and waved at him, seemingly amused at his reluctance to leave.

“Don’t move,” he said.

“I won’t.”

He went into the bathroom and closed the door behind him. He didn’t mind her looking at him, but he needed a moment to catch his breath. He took care of the condom and then studied himself in the bathroom mirror.

Me and Maddie. Maddie and me. The words kept repeating on a loop in his head. He felt so many emotions it was hard to get a handle on them. The sex had been amazing, better than he’d imagined, but this was Maddie, so there was more to it than that.

He heard her rustling around and snapped out of his musings. If he felt out of sorts, she might be too, and he didn’t want her to leave without talking to her.

Still naked, he opened the door and saw her lying in the same position but with a blanket tucked around her. Even though she was covered up, he was still struck by her beauty and that she was in his bed.

“I was cold,” she said as he stalked toward her.

“Care to share?” He wasn’t the least bit cold, but he’d gladly take every opportunity to be close to her.

“Of course.” She held up the blanket as he crawled into bed with her.

The minute their skin touched, his manhood twitched, but he was hoping to stave off a full-on erection until they’d talked.

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

She smoothed her hands over his chest. “Thoroughly satisfied. How about you?”

She wants to talk about the sex. Okay. I can do that. “Ditto and then some.”

She leaned in and softly kissed his lips. The kiss was brief and might not lead anywhere, but his manhood had other ideas. Still, he powered through.

“The sex was great, but what about the other stuff?”

She chuckled. “What other stuff?”
