“We can do that after breakfast.”

She kissed his bare shoulder. “Sounds wonderful.”

“Breakfast or the shower?”

“Both, everything.”

He chuckled. “Someone’s in a good mood this morning.”

“Two someone’s, I hope.”

“I’m in a great mood, even though you just ruined my surprise.”

“What surprise?”

“I was going to serve you breakfast in bed.”

“Maybe tomorrow.”

He nodded.

Then she let go of him and began setting the table. She realized that the simplest tasks were more fun in his company. It made her happy to know that they were good together both in and out of the bedroom.

“I’m so sorry. Are you okay? Do they hurt?”

She laughed again, but she was touched by his concern. “I’m fine. I’m just glad my brother isn’t here to see them.”

“That would just give him another reason to kill me.”

“Let’s not worry about him right now. Let’s eat!”

He placed the pan in the sink and then joined her at the table. They delved into the food like they hadn’t eaten in days and polished it off in no time.

“I almost forgot about the donuts. Want one?” she asked.

“If you promise we’ll work off the calories later.”

“Oh, I promise,” she said, wiggling her brows.

She opened the donut box while he refilled their coffee mugs.

“Thanks for making breakfast,” she said.

“Thanks for being here to eat it with me.”

“So, what are we going to do today?”
