Paige shook her head. “I think it was the perfect mix. I like a hefty dose of angst with my romance.”

Kelsey laughed. “I’m with Karen. I prefer a little more sex.”

Stacy gaped at her.

“What? We’re all friends here.”

Karen, the oldest member of their group, laughed. “Don’t worry about me. I may not have had sex in a while, but my memory still works!”

“Mom!” Paige chided, her face turning pink.

“Okay, I think we’re ready for Stacy to reveal our next read,” Kelsey said.

Stacy smiled and took a bag out from behind her. Some of the women liked to read eBooks, but she still preferred to read the old-fashioned way. She pulled a paperback out of the bag and held it up for everyone to see.

“See You Then,” Paige read.

“Cool cover,” Cheryl said.

“What’s the theme?” asked Kelsey.

Stacy hesitated, though she wasn’t sure why. They’d read books from every subcategory within the romance genre, including erotica. Surely, they wouldn’t scoff at her choice.

“It’s an older woman, younger man romance,” she said, her voice catching.

“Ahhh,” Kelsey said, her lips quirking up at the corners.

Stacy shot her a warning look, but of course, the other women noticed.

“What’s wrong with that? I say whatever floats your boat,” said Debbie.

“Works for me,” Karen said.

Paige’s eyes widened. “Wow, Mom. The things I’m learning about you!”

They all laughed.

“So, what made you choose it?” Cheryl asked.

“Relationships between older men and younger women seem to be more common, but why couldn’t it be the other way around?”

“Hear, hear!” Kelsey said.

“I agree. Age shouldn’t be a factor. We love who we love,” Debbie said.

“How wide is the age gap?” Paige asked.

Stacy scrunched up her face. “Pretty wide.”

“Like ten years?”

“Wider.”

“Oh boy.”

“Boy being the operative word,” Kelsey teased.

“Is he legal?” Karen asked.
