Gabe scowled at him, and Morgan quickly covered his mistake. “Don’t mind him. He hasn’t had his coffee yet.”

Stefan laughed.

“What are you doing here this early?” Gabe asked.

“I wanted to get a jump-start on my day just like you.”

Gabe had been hoping he and Morgan would have some time alone, but he could hardly fault Stefan for coming in early.

He nodded and then turned to Morgan. “If you need anything before the meeting, I’ll be in my office.” Then he walked away, hoping she’d gotten the hidden message behind his words.

He went into his office, slumped down at his desk, and took a long drink of coffee. Then he opened his laptop and checked his email just like he did every morning. He couldn’t seem to concentrate, though, and the words blurred together until he wasn’t even sure what he’d read.

“Dammit!” he shouted, swiveling his chair around to face out the window. After the weekend, he was usually anxious to get back to work. He’d never understood why people complained about Mondays. It was often his most productive day of the week, but not today.

Today all he could think about was Morgan and the time they’d spent together. It had been the best weekend he’d had in a long time, and he attributed most of that to her. Yes, it had been great seeing his parents and being in Flagstaff, but the trip had been made infinitely better with her by his side, and over him, and under him…

“How am I going to get through this day?” he pondered aloud. Then came a light knock on his door.

He swiveled his chair back around. “Come in.”

The door slowly opened, and there she stood. “Are you busy?”

“Not too busy for you.” He hadn’t meant to say it aloud, but he was rewarded with her pretty smile.

She stepped inside and shut the door behind her. At that moment, he wished it had a lock on it, but he felt confident that nobody would bother them. His staff knew that if his door was closed, he didn’t want to be disturbed.

“What can I do for you, Ms. Delaney?”

“Hmm. Let me think.”

She stalked toward him, and his heart rate spiked. He knew it wasn’t from the caffeine, because he hadn’t consumed that much coffee yet. He stood up and met her at the corner of his desk. His eyes raked over her, and his hands itched to touch her, but he stood still and waited.

She moved closer until her breasts brushed his chest. Then she ran her hands up his arms and looped them around his neck. He slipped his arms around her waist and pulled her in, inhaling her sweet scent.

“We shouldn’t be doing this here,” he said, his voice thick with desire.

“We haven’t done anything—yet.”

“What about Stefan?”

“I sent him down the street to the bakery.”

His eyes went wide, and he laughed. “How’d you manage that?”

“I asked him to buy donuts for our meeting.”

“I could kiss you for that.”

“I wish you would.”

“Is that what you’re here for?”

“Among other things.”

He growled and then crashed his lips to hers. He kissed her with the fervor of a teenager and the experience of a man, and she kissed him back with equal passion.

“This is crazy,” he said after they broke apart.
