Sol’s eyebrows pulled together. “What?”
I stared at her another second.
Then the words left my mouth before I could dress them up.
“Marry me.”
Sol blinked.
“What?”
I held her gaze. “Marry me.”
She pushed herself onto one elbow, the sheet shifting around her.
“Roman…”
“Be my wife.”
Her eyes widened. “Are you serious right now?”
“Dead serious.”
Her eyes drifted toward the nightstand.
Toward that damn cup.
Then came right back to me.
“You just—”
I knew exactly where she was going.
“You just did some completely insane shit with a CUP, then we had sex without a condom, and now you’re asking me to MARRY you?”
I considered the sequence.
“Yeah.”
“Roman!”
I started laughing.
“What?”
“You are out of your mind.”
“We established that.”
“No.” She shook her head, looking at me like she was reconsidering every decision she’d made since meeting me. “I mean certifiable.”
I reached for her hand, and the laughter left me.
“I’m serious, Sol.”
Her expression slowly changed.
I rubbed my thumb over her knuckles. “I ain’t asking because we just had sex. And I damn sure ain’t asking because we fucked up and didn’t use protection.”
