“Brand-new?”

I shrugged.

“I wasn’t putting you and Halo in no bullshit.”

“Oh my God.”

I moved around her and opened the back door.

That was what got her.

A brand-new car seat had already been professionally installed behind the passenger seat. There was plenty of space around it to get Halo in and out comfortably, along with enough cargo room in the back for her stroller, diaper bag, groceries, and all the other little shit I was learning somehow came with one tiny person.

Sol’s hand slowly rose to cover her mouth.

Her eyes immediately filled.

“You already put her car seat in here?”

“Had it installed.”

She leaned slightly into the back seat, taking everything in before looking toward me again.

“Rome…”

I held the key fob toward her.

“You said you needed a car.”

Her hand dropped from her mouth.

“I said eventually.”

“And eventually came early.”

She stared at me like I had completely lost my mind.

“I cannot take a brand-new Mercedes from you.”

“Why?”

Her eyes widened even more. “Because it’s a brand-new fucking Mercedes, Rome!”

I bit back a laugh.

“Okay. So you know what kind of car it is.”

Her mouth fell open before she smacked my arm.

“This is not funny!”

I caught her wrist, laughing. “A little bit.”

Then I let the teasing fall away.

“You need transportation.”

She opened her mouth to argue again, but I lifted one hand.
