Chapter 35

God, yes. This was incredible. I bowed my back into Marcus, knowing Adrian was watching me. Any other moment I would have been mortified, but tonight, I was acutely aware of everything that was happening, and okay with it at the same time. Maybe I’d lose this nerve in the daylight, but if they could all use the full moon to indulge in their deepest and most taboo desires, I could too. I was terrified to learn I wasn’t human, and I was still confused as to what else I might be, but it didn’t matter.

I was still me no matter what. Whether I had the power of a Pegasus or a witch or a gum drop inside me seemed irrelevant if it didn’t control my day to day.

I ground my hips on Marcus’ thigh, drinking in that friction of denim on my clit. He was completely hard for me, and I was going to fucking die if I couldn’t have him inside me.

I attempted to reposition, wanting to kiss him again, driven by an urgent need to have his tongue filling my mouth, when his grip on me tightened. He stopped me from moving, and forced me to stay exactly where I was.

I turned my head enough to really look at him, only to see his chin dipped to his chest.

My eyes widened as his shaggy blond hair started to redden, and his rough grip turned brutal and sharp. His hands became larger and more powerful. Large horns extended from each side of his head, curling into the thick bones of a ram, and he breathed deep and slow and shakily. His expression contorted like he was fighting intense pain, his always muscular thighs started to thicken and bulk, and the feet dangling on each side of the dragon’s back started reshaping into hooves. That denim tore as his entire lower body, from his hips down, sprouted dense red fur, and that sensation against my clit took on a completely different bend.

I jerked in his grip, not sure what to expect next, but Marcus didn’t so much as flinch at my attempt. He held me as his transformation was fully realized, showing me exactly how overpowered I was in the hands of an Alpha. My half vampire classmate lifted his head slowly, until I was caged in the cruel, bright red, slitted eyes of a monster.

Of the Aries.

I gasped sharply as his teeth entered my neck faster than I could see him move. And the fight in me started to slip as he sucked the life force from my body in greedy gulps.

“Wait, wait, wait—we should slow down after all.” I pleaded in sudden desperation. Confident and turned on as I was, I didn’t want to die tonight.

“A little late for that, Baby Doll.” He bit in harder, and I pushed against him, trying to communicate—to beg him to get a hold of himself as darkness started to spot my vision.

I was about to scream when a loud crash exploded beneath us. Before I knew what was happening, I was on my back in the basin, the water rushing from the broken edge of the fountain, and destroyed fragments of the statue raining down around us. Marcus was on top of me on hands and knees, shielding my body from crumbling stone. A heavy chunk struck his left horn, and he jerked his head to deflect it. The seconds felt like minutes as the last of the destroyed dragon settled in the now empty water basin.

The Fountain was destroyed, the statue was in ruins, the basin was crumbled, and the water erupted uncontrolled from broken spouts, spilling into the surrounding grass.

“Are you alright?” Marcus asked the second before he was yanked off of me by a red, clawed hand fisting his hair.

Adrian forced Marcus to his feet and shoved him violently against the remains of the still spouting, broken dragon statue. Dust and scuffs covered Adrian’s horns where he’d charged and obliterated the massive fountain, and he held his brother, with a sneer on his face and in a strikingly similar body of hooves, fur, and horns.

The only difference between the two of them now was in the massive red, furry bat wings that adorned Adrian’s back.

“She’s mine.” Adrian growled before he swung on his brother. His fist connected with his right cheek, and he stumbled to the side. Adrian was strong, but Marcus was faster.

Marcus appeared behind Adrian in a blur and grabbed him by the wing. He leveraged it to slam him into the ground, then pinned him under his knee. “Then take her from me.” He hissed with a mischievous smile on his face.

It took one hard flap for Adrian to throw his brother off of him and into a pile of rocks. Both of them back on their feet, they charged each other, slamming their horns together in a loud bang.

I started to crawl backwards on my ass, as the two of them exchanged blows, biting, punching, clawing, and head butting each other like two big horns in rut. Suddenly being naked in the school fountain didn’t sound so fun and brilliant. It was a wonder that it ever had, really. Moonbeams are a hell of a drug.

I rolled and got to my feet, then turned toward the cafeteria door to make a run for it. I made it all of five feet before a strong arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me back against a rippling, muscular chest.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Marcus chuckled into my ear. He continued to hold me around the waist with one arm, then used his other hand to grab my neck and force my head back. I could smell his freshly spilled blood, still dribbling from the corner of his mouth. Something inside me fluttered at the scent of it.

Fluttered?

Displaced wind swirled around us as Adrian landed in front of us. He cocked back his chin and looked down on me with more deviance than anger. “There’s no point in fighting if there’s no prize to be won.”

“I think we’ve been going about this battle all wrong, Adrian.” Marcus tightened his grip on my neck, sending new panic through my chest.

“Agreed, Marcus.” Adrian nodded as he took a step closer, each of them saying the other’s name had the air of issuing a truce. The shadow cast by his large, winged ram form completely eclipsed the light of the moon. “As much as I might enjoy killing you, we should let the lady decide.”

I squirmed in Marcus’ hold, but he was completely unbothered by my thrashing. If anything, he seemed amused by it. Maybe even turned on by it.

“Let’s settle this right now.” Adrian closed the last of the gap, and he placed his hand on my cheek, while Marcus kept me immobilized. “Tell me, Lila, who do you really want to take you tonight?” He traced a line beneath my eye with his claw, cutting a shallow slit along my skin. To my surprise, my own body had enough natural healing in this form to quickly patch the knick. “Decide.”

“I can’t.” I managed, at a loss for how to respond. “I can’t pick either one of you.” I inhaled and exhaled deeply, as Adrian traced the line of my cheekbone down to my lips, then sank his claw into his own mark. Blood trickled down my chin at the sharp intrusion.
