“He lives!” she chortles, making me laugh. “I was trying to figure out what could’ve happened since last night to have you ignoring me. Then I briefly wondered if maybe I pissed you off in a dream and you were doing it because of that.”

“People do that?” I ask, still chuckling. “I don’t usually remember my dreams.”

“Me and Fee have done it before,” she admits. “She dreamt one night that I had eaten all the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and the next morning, while I was fixing breakfast, she came out, shoulder checked me as she walked past and immediately went to the freezer. Once she saw her ice cream, she turned to me and told me why she was acting that way.”

“Honey, if you woke up and ate all my ice cream, I’d just go and buy some more,” I admit. “I’m on my way now. It’s nice out, do you wanna go on the bike?”

Her squeal down the line has me grinning as I slip my cut on. From the first time she rode behind me, she fell in love with the freedom she felt. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that with what she does, she has to be in control at all times. Being a passenger behind me allowed her to let go and just enjoy. “Yes, please,” she replies once she stops squealing.

“Then that’s what we’ll do.” I grab her helmet from the top shelf in my closet then head out to get my ol’ lady.

“I didn’t know rain was in the forecast,” she mutters as we sit beneath the only underpass in our town to wait out the downpour.

“Same,” I reply. “I mean, I’ve got raingear in my saddlebags, but the visibility is shitty right now and I’m not taking a chance of some asshole hitting us because they can’t see. If it keeps up, I’ll call one of the brothers to come and get us and bring a trailer to load the bike on.”

“I was enjoying the ride, too,” she grumbles, pouting.

“We’ll have more, Ella,” I murmur, leaning down to kiss her.

“I know,” she replies before she kisses me back.

A horn blares and I hear some asshole yell, “Get a room!” before we’re splashed with water.

“Fuck,” I growl as I pull my phone from the inside of my cut. “We’re both soaked now and neither one of us can afford to get sick. Gonna see if Red or Psycho can come and get us.”

“Since I’m now shivering,” she says, “I agree with this plan.”

“Figured you would,” I jest, “because you were never an exhibitionist.”

She looks down and when she realizes her top is now virtually see-through, her nipples prominently displayed, she screeches while crossing her arms over her chest. “Oh, my God, Data!”

“Hey, now, I’m kinda enjoying the view,” I admit. “Just don’t want other fuckers seeing it too.”

CHAPTER

FOURTEEN

Ella

Psycho is the one who ends up picking us up and he takes us back to the clubhouse. Now, I’m in Data’s bathroom taking a hot shower as I try to warm up while my clothes are being dried. Thankfully, Data gave me a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt, but being commando isn’t my favorite thing to be.

“Fine, it’s fine, the man’s seen you naked before, you ding-dong,” I preach to my reflection in the mirror. Taking one last look, I stick out my tongue and flip myself off before I turn and head back into the bedroom.

He used another brother’s bathroom, so he’s sitting on his bed, back to the headboard, with a huge, steaming pepperoni pizza in the middle. “Your drink’s over there,” he says, pointing to the nightstand closest to me. “I know we just ate, but I was feeling like eating something warm because I’m frozen inside. How about you?”

“Yeah, I’m definitely chilled to the bone,” I reply, crawling onto the bed. I reach down and grab the blanket that’s at the foot of the bed and pull it up to cover my feet and legs.

He hands me a piece of pizza along with a napkin and I practically inhale it. “That’s delicious,” I mumble around what’s stuffed in my mouth. Once I swallow, I add, “Sorry about that. Did I mention steroids make me ravenous?”

Chuckling, he hands me another slice and says, “Ella, I like a woman who’s not afraid to eat.”

I roll my eyes at him as I eat this piece slower. “I know, but I swear, my manners seem to fly out the window when I have to take them!”

He shrugs. “Doesn’t bother me, babe.”

“We should probably start getting ready for tonight,” he says, gently shaking my shoulder.

“Shit, I didn’t mean to fall asleep,” I murmur.
