"I'm in," Hollis agreed.

They looked at us.

King looked at me.

I'd definitely never had a movie night with the Vampire Pack. Our bonding had strictly been related to hockey. And, with King, sex.

"I can do a movie," I agreed.

The air in the room shifted, just a little.

King grabbed a blanket, then pulled me onto his lap while Jude and Hollis argued about what to watch.

Jude tossed me a chocolate bar when King finally stole the remote and hit the button to play a movie.

I ate it without hesitation.

We all relaxed further as the night went on. Things had settled by the time we all went to bed, after tossing jokes around about how unrealistic some of the scenes had been.

Maybe being mated had more perks than I realized. I hadn't expected a mate bond to come with a second pack. Vampires didn't usually do packs.

And yeah, Jude and Hollis were assholes… but maybe they weren't only assholes.

My last physical therapy appointment happened the next morning, and I finally got the all-clear. King and I joined the rest of the team for an easy, day-off skate, and it was lighthearted.

He didn't let me anywhere near any of the other guys, but they all understood, and no one tried anything.

We grabbed lunch on the way out, ran a few errands together, and headed to my place afterward. The rest of the day was lazy, full of snark, recovery, and sex.

When my friends got home, King stayed in my room while I shifted and went for a run with them in the forest.

After we got back home, we all made dinner together, ate, and cleaned up together too.

King and I snuggled up in my bed that night, and I realized it didn't smell like mine anymore.

It smelled like ours.

He wrapped his wings around me, and I played with them quietly, letting my mind wander. He was relaxed, laying on my chest like he had been the morning before we mated. I could tell he was awake.

"Can I ask you something?" I finally asked.

King was an extremely private person. There was nothing online about his childhood, other than the fact that he'd been close to Jude and Hollis since they were kids.

I'd never tried to get details about it out of him. I'd never really tried to get details about anything out of him.

"Since when do you ask permission?" he murmured.

My lips curved.

It was a fair point.

"Why did you claim me with your friends as soon as we met?" I asked.

He didn't answer immediately, but I was pretty sure he would. So, I kept stroking his wings. Lightly.

"Your scent drove me crazy," he finally admitted. "I couldn't stop thinking about you. And then you started a fight with Cooper."

My lips twitched.
