She raises her hand high up in the air, and for a second, I admire her confidence. Except, she probably lives in a world where she isn’t hunted in the halls. It must be nice.
“Yes, Alexa?” he asks, brow raised.
“I can appreciate that you want us to show our school spirit, sir,” she says, projecting her voice without a problem. “I would like to know if this same kind of enthusiasm will be encouraged during the arts performances? Orchestra, theater, the Christmas ballet?”
“Yes, I’ll make sure to give this exact conversation for you then,” he promises. “We should all show up for each other. Now then! How will we keep track? You’ll need to submit a photo of yourselves at the event on the school server along with your ticket stub. While the school makes events free for students, we still give you a ticket.
“As a reminder, all photos that are uploaded to the server will also need to sign a release for the school to use them. Now, enjoy the rest of your lunch period. Thank you for your support in this matter.”
Sighing, I wonder if I’ll be able to at least swing by to see Rachelle before I have to get to class. The principal seems to think that he needs to hijack my entire day.
“Oh! I need to see Noor Agassi before she leaves the gym, please,” the principal adds, his voice booming through the room.
That’s just lovely. Glancing at him, I see that Draven is speaking to the principal and is nodding along to whatever he says. Ciaran joins them as I walk down the steps of the bleachers, and I have a really bad feeling about this.
Can I just pretend I didn’t hear him?
A hard shove against my back has me go sprawling to the ground, having missed several steps. I don’t make a sound, keeping it inside as I take a breath to remind myself I’m alive. A little shoving isn’t going to break me.
Alastair and his little friends already know this. Whoever did this is an amateur.
Standing, I ignore everyone as they walk around me as if I’m a small inconvenience. I suppose I am, since I’m in the way.
“You should be more careful,” Alastair says, draping his arm around me as he leads me out of the foot traffic toward the principal.
“Your future children should be,” I retort, glancing over at him.
He is only walking a bit stiff, and doesn’t even smell like urine. The asshole probably has back up clothes in the locker room. Ugh, I hate that his hair is perfectly pulled up, and his eyes simply appear amused.
“My future children will live much longer than you,” he says, chuckling darkly.
“If that’s a threat, better people than you have tried to kill me,” I reply, trying to shrug his arm off.
Unfortunately, he won’t let me go, and my muscles cramp in my shoulders as he tugs me closer.
“Yeah, poor little Moo. Even her daddy didn’t want her. I know all about your life,” he mocks, snorting.
“My life is documented in a series of files,” I grunt. “I’m unsurprised you’re doing something as unoriginal as snooping through it. You can’t hurt me, Tiny Dick.”
His lips press against my ear as he hisses, “Stop saying it’s tiny or I’ll make you choke on it, Moo. I usually prefer blondes because they’re thirsty and cry prettily, but I may need to see if I’m missing out.”
“I bite,” I hiss back.
“Spoiler, I like a little pain with my foreplay,” he chuckles, kissing my cheek in front of the principal.
Gross. I think there was tongue with that kiss.
Making a face, I wipe my cheek discreetly when the principal looks out into the stands to watch as everyone leaves. Draven rolls his eyes at me, smirking as if he has a secret as he stands next to Ciaran. The room empties out at an alarming rate, the microphone gone, and it’s just us.
What a wretchedly odd group.
“Noor, it was just pointed out to me you don’t have an extracurricular yet,” Principal Keer says calmly, his arms linked behind his back as he faces me.
“Ah, no I don’t,” I reply. “I haven’t been here long enough to get my bearings. I’m sure I’ll find something.”
“I doubt that,” Draven murmurs. “May I, sir?”
“Of course,” he says. Ugh, this is the boys club and I was born without a cock.
