Out of my control, laughter erupted from deep inside of me. Even when I softly pushed Cassie to the side before slamming my fists into this nigga’s face, I couldn’t help but laugh.
WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
I finally allowed her to pull me away after his face was left bloody. The realization of where Cassie truly stood was getting to my head.
“Kenzo, you need to get in your truck and fucking leave!”
Juan hopped up, taking a gun from his waist and pointing it in my face. That shit burned me something deep. I could’ve easily popped this nigga when he opened that car door, but I don’t do that shit in front of my wife. Clearly he don’t give a fuck about her and been disrespecting her.
I put my forehead to the barrel, “SHOOT, PUSSY! IT’S YO BEST BET TO KILL ME RIGHT HERE. IF YOU DON’T, I’MA TAKE YO FUCKING LIFE! I’D LOVE TO DO IT TO YOU.”
“NO! HE’S NOT GOING TO FUCKING SHOOT YOU!” Cassandra yelled.
He spit blood from his mouth as I cracked up laughing. She knew I would shoot this nigga but had no doubt he wouldn’t shoot me.
Juan’s face screwed up, “You think I’ma just let you live knowing you killed Twist? Nigga you just mad I was fucking on Cassandra while you was in jail, looking stupid! Get yo money back up now that you out, goofy. You still mad I was slobbering all on that wet ass pussy while you was calling, huh? My dick hard right now thinking about tearing her ass out the fucking frame, nigga. I gave your wife my all every. single. time. I beat her shit down, RAW!”
Something in me snapped. I tried to shake it off. No part of me wanted to take a life in front of Cassie. Not again.
“Shorty, you don’t know how fucking pathetic you sound! Do you hear her right now? You was in love with her pretty ass and she’s right here begging me not to kill you broad day so I won’t go to jail again. She’s not begging for your life. She’s not thinking about yo granny who’s house I sit outside of. G, she don’t give a fuck about you. She used you as a fucking rose toy for a year and just threw you away. She left you lovesick, running to NOLA to feel something because she know who the fuck her nigga is. You fucking embarrassing. She hasn’t even looked at you this entire time! You don’t realize that?!”
His eyes fell down to the back of Cassie’s head. I looked at her myself.
Her face nor attitude changed. Them words didn’t cause her to feel bad for Juan or to speak up for him. She loves me. She never loved him. I’ve spent days wondering and now I know. Me being out here with her means more to her than this nigga’s life. This MY wife. Without thinking, I kissed her tear soaked lips.
“Get in the car and go to Duke. Right now, Cassie. I’m not asking.”
She turned, unintentionally swishing her hips away. I watched him watch her, heartbroken. Before he could even turn his attention back towards me, I snatched the gun from his hands, turning it on him instead. Cassandra briefly hit the brakes, but ultimately she continued to back up, flying out of the parking lot and to the light.
This bitch ass nigga took off running to his car. I knew he had another blick in there. I knew I should get in my truck, chasing him to a more concealed neighborhood. But I also knew what he said cut deeper than I should’ve let it. And I’ve never been no pussy.
Broad day in front of everyone, I let the blick he once pointed at me go. Bullets shredded his car and back windshield as his dumb ass bobbed and weaved. I saw a bullet cut through the flesh of his arm right before he dropped down. My feet moved quickly across the concrete, preparing to go stand over this nigga.
Before I got to him, he opened his car door, jumping inside. His lil shit had already ran out of bullets. I could hear the sirens getting closer as I ran to my truck, getting in.
At this point, I started apologizing to Cassandra in my head. I felt the guilt in my heart. I could see from the corner of my eye Cassandra still sitting at the light. I knew she was watching.
I’m sorry, Crybaby. This nigga gotta die.
Even with seeing the lights down the way, I tore out of the parking lot, following him down the streets. In the back of my mind, I acknowledged this was the same hot head shit that got me in jail the first time. In my heart I knew I couldn’t let him live, knowing he loves Cassandra.
Chapter 34: Seeking Comfort
Devyn’s POV
But what do I care for?
I bopped my head to the Jhene Aiko as the beautiful woman laying on my table in front of me did the same. She reached over, putting the blunt to my lips and letting me take a deep pull. I trapped the smoke in my chest, continuing to put the finishing touches on her rib tat. She got Venus very big and not to toot my own horn, but the bitch was beautiful.
Duke isn’t here, which I’m glad. I’m fried as fuck and we all usually tried to not get this high while tattooing. My client just used the weed to calm the pain and wanted me to smoke with her. I completely understood; rib tats are one of the worst. Plus, all of her blunts were wrapped in rose petals. Of course I wanted to be cute with her.
My hair was in a big puff at the top of my head. I wore a blue, cotton overalls one piece with absolutely nothing underneath. She laid with just a sports bra and shorts on as we vibed the fuck out. I was so into it that I had my legs crossed and sung out loud.
Just as I was about to put my last touches on the tat, I happened to glance over. The finest nigga in the world was leaning on the doorway, just watching me. His chocolate face had the prettiest smile on it. He wore a white t-shirt with black Nike Tech pants and some matching shoes. I didn’t know how long he was standing there for. Hopefully not long enough to see how many times I hit that blunt. I quickly turned forward, locking back in.
“Alright, love. All done. Look in the mirror and tell me what you think.”
Duke winked at me before going into his office. I hopped up, shutting the door and turning the lights up for her. Love flooded my chest watching the smile take up ninety percent of her face.
