“Is it bad that I love knowing my cum is inside you? That when I have to say goodbye, I’ll know you’ll still feel me between your legs?”

Blair’s breath caught in her throat. He pulled out, the emptiness not at all pleasant. She’d be feeling that for the next three to four weeks, so she’d best get used to it and fast.

Daniel’s phone started ringing while they were redressing. “Ulf,” he told her. He answered, and before putting it on speakerphone, he turned on the app she used to convert voice to text so she could read their conversation.

“Hello.”

“You’re ten minutes late.”

“Sorry, I’m coming,” Daniel said, rolling his eyes at Blair, making her smile.

“We’re all aware,” Ulf said before ending the call.

If rigor mortis could happen to a living person, then Blair had it. Her hands stopped moving, and her face felt painfully stiff and unresponsive. She couldn’t make her lips form words, reverting to sign language. “Oh. My. God. Tell me he didn’t mean it that way. I’m fully dead. Dead, Daniel, and don’t you dare laugh.” Proof, if she needed it, that she definitely wasn’t an exhibitionist.

“He didn’t mean it that way,” Daniel blithely repeated before pulling his shirt over his head, frustrating her further.

“Jackass,” she murmured under her breath. He looked at her and smirked instantly. Damn. Whispering was a real bitch for the deaf. There were no vibrations in her throat to gauge how loud she was.

Daniel bumped her shoulder. “Come on, my little porn star, before Ulf goes to the airport without me.”

Blair rolled her eyes at how unconcerned he was with the situation. After his “morning wood” comment earlier and now this, she would rather eat mushrooms every day for the rest of her life—the vilest edible in Kingdom Fungi—than face the Stantons, Rowan, and Ulf.

Daniel drove them to the main house, and Blair felt her face flame hotter and hotter as it came into view. She startled as Daniel’s large hand covered her thigh.

“Relax, Blair.”

To that idiotic statement, she could only roll her eyes.

“What are your plans for today?” he tried again.

Swallowing a moan of dismay as they pulled up to the front of the house, she signed, since her mouth was set in a grim line. “One of my soil samples was compromised in the lab by a first-year. I’m getting another today and checking one more time that my coordinates are correct for where the three main man-made river diversions were built, long overgrown now. Still, if you know what to look for…” she ended, shrugging away the rest of the details.

“Will you stay here tonight or go back to school?”

They were parked now but still sitting in the Jeep. Blair could tell by his tight lips and slightly raised shoulders that he wasn’t happy she might see Peter. If he only knew the lengths she went to avoid him.

“I’ll drive back. The more classes I attend and log in lab time, the sooner I can fly home. To you.”

“I know we went over all of this, but the guy’s actions aren’t normal. If you didn’t give him any encouragement or hope that you might welcome him following you, and I believe you that you didn’t, then he’s not normal. I’m afraid of how far he’s willing to go.

“I don’t want to lie, so I’m warning you now that I plan on using my family’s influence at Trinity to force him to return, and until that happens, I want you to let Dr. Bartel know that you don’t want him to have access to you.

“From what Katy and William have said about the woman, I believe that she would absolutely back you in this. Tell me you’ll speak to her. Please, Blair. It’s the only way I’ll be comfortable leaving you.”

She hated that she hadn’t told him everything about her past with Peter, but even without knowing, Daniel was doing an excellent job of making her feel safer than she had for months. The knots that had been plaguing her stomach began to lessen.

“I would greatly appreciate any help with getting Peter to go home, so I can finish my last few weeks in peace, and I promise to speak to Linda at the first opportunity.”

“Good. You’ll let me know when you do?”

“Yes, sir,” she saluted him. “Better get inside before Ulf has another meltdown.” And get the embarrassment over with.

Two suitcases were sitting on the porch outside the front door, and Daniel dropped his next to them.

The door opened, and Ulf made sure he was facing Blair so that she could read his lips. She should have walked in with her eyes closed.

The surly bastard was there and waiting with, “Well, if it isn’t the two Jeep explorers home from their tailgate adventure.”
