He caught her immediately, laughing as she wrapped herself around him.

“You said yes,” he groaned before kissing her, desperate to see what “yes” tasted like. When they finally pulled apart, Blair rested her forehead against his.

“Did you ask my dad’s permission?” she teased.

Daniel enjoyed her mouth rounding in surprise when he told her he had. “I like my balls where they are, thank you very much.” He and Coll had come to an understanding of sorts since finding out about Blair’s history with Peter Samson.

Coll understood that Daniel loved his daughter and that he’d never get rid of him, and because they both loved Blair, Coll had to tolerate him.

Outside, the Wicklow morning spread across the grounds that now made up their home. Inside, wrapped in sunlight, promises, and the future they’d fought so hard for, Daniel glided his hands down the silky skin of Blair’s sides, scooting her bottom further up his thighs until heat met heat.

“I like your balls where they are too,” she whispered against his mouth while her hips rolled slowly against his groin. “We have a few hours before everyone gets here.”

Daniel’s world narrowed to Blair. Every fear he’d carried since Tulsa—the helplessness, the anger, the lingering worry that still woke him in the middle of the night—seemed to loosen its grip whenever she looked at him like that.

Blair cupped his face, drawing his attention back to her. Her green eyes were bright with affection and trust.

“Hey,” she whispered.

Daniel pressed his forehead to hers, breathing her in.

“Hey, yourself.”

For a long moment neither of them spoke. They didn’t need to. The silence between them wasn’t awkward or uncertain. It was the comfortable silence of two people who had survived something terrible and found each other waiting on the other side.

His hand settled over the curve of her stomach.

The gesture immediately softened them both.

Blair covered his hand with hers and smiled.

“You’re thinking again.”

“I do that occasionally.”

She laughed, and the sound eased something deep inside his chest.

“Dangerous habit.”

“According to you.”

“According to everyone who loves you.”

Daniel kissed her then, slow and unhurried, letting the moment stretch. There would be friends arriving later. Family. A noisy house full of people who cared about them.

But for now, it was just the two of them.

Blair, him, and the future they were building together.

Daniel felt her smile against his neck. He had been afraid to initiate sex for weeks after Tulsa, but Blair wasn’t having it. She said their closeness healed her. If she hadn’t already been pregnant, she would have been after the past several weeks.

Daniel laid her slowly back, her gorgeous red hair flaring around them. “What do you want from me, baby?” he asked right before he sucked one of her nipples through his teeth, enjoying her intake of breath when his teeth grazed her skin.

“Daniel,” she groaned, wrapping her legs tightly around his waist until it was his turn to moan as she rubbed against him.

Daniel wasn’t done touching and tasting her body, but Blair was. She clasped his length and lined their sexes up until she could press her hips forward.

He shouted as she slid up his length, holding still until the need to move took over, his hips riding her body like it was the first and the last time he would ever feel that good.
