I whimpered into the pillow as he dragged me to the edge of something that promised pure ecstasy. “Zevander?” I whispered, clawing the bed.
“Let it go, A’miszhla.”
Fire burned in my veins. Muscles shaking. I clamped down around his cock and arched my back to a flash of white light that burst across my eyes.
Warmth poured inside of me in tiny shocks of pleasure that spread through my core, across my thighs, and up into my belly. A feverish ecstasy tore through my muscles, locking them in convulsions.
Blackness closed in on the fringes, shrinking to a pinprick.
Smaller.
Smaller.
Silence.
* * *
Asolid surface slipped beneath my cheek, rising and falling, and I opened my eyes, staring across the dark room to the glowing violet flame of the fireplace. I lifted my head to find my body sprawled across Zevander’s, our limbs tangled together, the sheets torn in ribbons and spattered in blood, feathers strewn about the ruined mattress.
Confused, I looked back to where he stared down at me, his damp chest heaving. A guarded expression darkened his eyes.
As I pushed to a sitting position, dizziness settled over me, and when I lifted my hand to my forehead, a silver glow flashed across my eyes. Both of my arms carried the silver swirls of flames that mirrored the black flames on Zevander’s.
“What happened?” I asked, studying the intricate whorls.
“The bond was successful.”
I snapped my gaze to his and back to my arms, a strange hum of energy vibrating through me. And hunger. Pressing a hand to my stomach, I let out a quiet grunt, an intense ache gnawing at me. “We’re mates, then?”
“Are you all right, moon witch?” Torment weighed heavy in his voice.
I glanced around at the bedroom again, surveying the disarray, and a clip of laughter escaped me. “I feel … incredible.”
When I looked back at him, the uncertainty in his eyes seemed to ease. “I thought I hurt you.”
“Hurt me?”
“The way you moaned, thrashing around …” His brows tightened, and he dragged a hand down his face. “I thought I might’ve gotten too rough. I lost control.”
I turned my focus inward for any sign of internal injury. Only that cozy intoxication lingered. “I feel good. Exceptionally good.” My stomach growled, and I rested my hand there again, my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
“You’re hungry.”
“It’s strange. I crave something, but I don’t know what it is.”
He traced one of the flames on my arms. “Pleasure. You’re craving more.”
The moment he said it, a deep throb pulsed low in my belly. “Oh, no. Again?”
Lips forming a hard line, he nodded. “Gods be damned, I wanted to wake you when it hit me earlier.”
I glanced at the moons high in the sky. “How long ago was that?”
“This afternoon.”
My brain recoiled at that. “I slept through the day?”
“Yes. You passed out during climax.”
