Elena leaves my office, and every instinct I have tells me to follow her, but I don’t. That may be the stupidest decision I’ve made all morning, and that’s saying something.

She’s angry enough to be reckless. She’s terrified enough to be unpredictable. Maya’s been taken, Bianchi is demanding a file we don’t have, and Elena hates me.

I understand it, but I don’t have time to do anything about it. The second she’s out of earshot, I look at Marco.

“Make sure she gets to her room.”

He nods once and leaves without a word. Luca watches the door swing shut behind him.

“She’s going to try something stupid,” he warns.

“Almost definitely,” I agree. “But if I try to interfere, it’ll only make the situation worse.”

He raises an eyebrow at me.

I glare at him. “Do you have something helpful to say?”

“Not helpful, no,” he finally admits.

“Then now isn’t the time.”

I turn back to the maps spread across my desk. Maya’s building is marked in red. Her back exit. The service lane. The first vehicle swap three blocks away. The second possible route where traffic cameras lost the van under scaffolding.

Bianchi moved fast because he already knew where my men would be. Someone gave him Maya’s address. Someone gave him enough information to hit the building after I sent protection. Someone knew where our coverage thinned and when to push through it.

“If we’re going to get Maya back, we need to know who our leak is,” I say.

Luca’s expression sharpens. “Trap?”

“Yes.”

“There’s not much time.”

“Then it had better be a simple one.”

Luca steps closer to the desk. “We feed different information to everyone who had access to Maya’s address,” I say. “Just enough to see which piece reaches Bianchi.”

“What’s the bait?”

“The file.”

Luca nods slowly as he reaches for his tablet. “How many locations?”

“Four.” I point to the map. “DeSantis gets Elena’s apartment. Raul gets Bellamy Fine Art. Marco gets Maya’s building. Nico gets Bellamy storage.”

Luca works quickly, sending each man a different version of the same update.

We have a lead on the file. Move quietly. Report any movement. Do not involve anyone outside direct command.

My phone buzzes seconds later. DeSantis confirms first, then Raul, then Marco. Finally, Nico’s message appears.

Bellamy storage? You sure?

I stare at the screen. Luca leans over enough to read it. Three dots appear under Nico’s name, then disappear. A second later, another message comes in.

Already moving.

I set the phone on the desk. “Track him.”
