Bennett swallowed, heat settling in his chest and swiftly moving south. God, he was such a fool for this man. “You are welcome.”

“You could have left, but I am glad you stayed.”

Why on earth would Bennett have left? He wouldn’t have missed this. “It was fun to watch and to hear you speak your native language.”

“It was fun for me, as well. It made me miss my childhood home and my grandfather.”

“Damn. I was trying to make you feel better, not worse.”

Nico shook his head, his mouth even softer now. “No, Bennett. A good miss, not a bad miss.”

Oh. That was a relief. He loosened his grip on the steering wheel. “I’m glad.”

After slipping his hands into his trouser pockets, Nico said, “I am not used to having people do nice things for me. When they do, I am usually searching for ulterior motives.”

“No ulterior motives,” Bennett said quickly. “Just wanted to show my appreciation for the cookies.” That’s all. Definitely not a date. We don’t need to be anything more. I’m happy with the way things are. Don’t break it off.

“Allora, I will show my appreciation for this later on tonight. Say around eleven o’clock. You will be home, no?”

Bennett’s mouth dried out. It was more than he’d hoped for, and heat simmered under his skin, the anticipation almost painful. “I will be home.”

“Va bene. Make sure you are ready and well hydrated. Maybe stretch a little. Because I have a lot of appreciation, Bennett.”

Bennett’s mouth twitched. “I’ll make sure to limber up.”

“A presto, bello.”

Nico patted the car door twice, then turned and headed toward his sedan. Bennett watched him go, not wanting to miss a mouthwatering second of Nico’s confident gait, the long legs and wide shoulders. No one had a right to look so good just walking across a parking lot. This was a man not to be underestimated or dismissed easily. No wonder legions of men did whatever he said; Bennett did too—though for very different reasons.

Eleven o’clock. He couldn’t fucking wait.

They barely made it to the bedroom. Nico had pounced on Bennett the moment the door opened at eleven o’clock, and from there it was a flurry of messy kisses, shedding of clothes, and bumping into walls as they attacked each other. They were both desperate, greedy, and almost completely silent. For a long time, the room only contained grunts and heavy breaths. Pleas for more and faster.

Nico felt possessed, out of his mind with want for this man. It made him crazy, like it could never be enough, no matter how hard he tried. They both came quickly, rubbing off on each other’s naked bodies like teenagers, barely satisfied. When they both caught their breath, Nico started all over again, slower this time, building the fire between them until it burned bright and hot.

The headboard slammed against the wall as Nico pounded into Bennett, his teeth gritted as he tried to hold out long enough for Bennett to peak first. The heat, the tight clasp of the other man’s body . . . Nico had never experienced anything like it. It’s too good, he thought, biting his cheek for a rush of pain. The slight tang of copper in his mouth grounded him the tiniest amount, and it was all he needed to keep from coming too soon. When Bennett finally stopped trembling and shaking, Nico followed him over, letting the orgasm rip him apart, jets of come filling the latex between them.

He nearly blacked out.

Finally, the world righted itself. Nico found himself draped over Bennett’s chest, clinging to the other man like ivy. He had no desire to move. Sono cotto di lui. I’m smitten with him. Embarrassing. He started to push up and distance himself, but Bennett grabbed his shoulders, saying, “Wait. Don’t go anywhere.”

“Bello, you will need to wait for round three.”

“Fuck off. I just want you to stay here for a few minutes. Per favore.”

The pronunciation was shit, but surprise had Nico lowering back down, his arms no longer supporting him. “You are attempting to speak Italian.”

“I may have picked up a few words here and there.”

“Oh?” Nico closed his eyes and let Bennett’s strong body hold the majority of his weight. It was nice to not worry about crushing his partner. “Like what else?”

“You say the word die a lot.”

Nico’s mouth hitched. “It is not die like murder. It is dai,” he drew out properly, letting the last sound trail off. “It is a useful word with many meanings, like come on or no way. It’s one of our favorites.”

“Dai,” Bennett tried.

“Better. Still Canadian, but better.”
