Chapter 19

Blaze

I pace the small room as my girl’s eyes watch me go back and forth, and I swear to fuck, I’m a ticking time bomb. I’m ready to tear this hospital apart while we wait for the tests Trick has run on Blair, whose forehead is swollen like a fucking balloon, dried blood from the cut in the middle of the bump surround it and if I look at her again, I will lose it. I’ll tear this fucking hospital apart with how I’m feeling.

Getting that fucking call from Norman saying their client arrived early, I was fucking pissed because I would have been there early as well had El, of all people, who has still been trying to call me, was trying to talk to me, gripping my arm, digging her nails in my tattoo of my girls name, not wanting me to leave her and I saw right fucking through her.

Elenor has many fucking clients, and deep in my gut, I knew Blair’s account was one of El’s men. I knew Norman didn’t trust him, and I knew El would do anything to keep me because of my stupid fucking promise to always be there for her, to make her mine, to protect her from her past.

I grit my teeth. I shoved her aside and sprinted to the building, with El screaming for me to come back, my gut telling me my girl was in danger while my phone rang, only to find the fucking door locked and my girl screaming from inside.

Fuck.

“Linc,” Blair whispers, but I shake my head, her screams still echoing.

She passed out after she vomited, and fuck, I panicked. I felt like I was going to fucking pass out myself with how hard my heart was pounding.

“You know, if you keep pacing, I’m going to vomit again, and I’ll make sure I get you this time,” she sasses, and I look her way with a raised brow, and she smirks, happy that she got her own way.

Fuck, the left side of her face is already bruising…

“Threatening to vomit on me, huh?” I confirm, and she grins but winces, and I growl as I walk over to her and cup her cheek.

“Where the fuck is Trick?” I snap, and Blair grips my wrist.

“I’m fine,” she promises, “I don’t have a concussion, it’s just the lump that hurts, that’s all.”

“You vomited and passed out, you have a fucking concussion,” I snap, and she tilts her head at my tone, but I shake my head and walk away from her again, so I don’t take my anger out on her.

Elenor did this, I just fucking know it, this is my fault.

I brought the bitch into her fucking life, I hurt her.

“Linc,” Blair sighs, but I ignore her.

I can feel myself closing off, and I can’t seem to stop myself. She got hurt, because of me, just like all the times I got hurt because of my mom's choices, the burns when I tried to cook for myself, the men who would smack me around.

She deserves fucking better than me, yet the thought of letting her go…

Fuck.

“She doesn’t have a concussion,” Trick says as he comes into the room a few minutes later, and I narrow my eyes at him.

“She vomited then passed out!” I snap, and he nods, then reminds me, “Brother, you sliced the fucker’s throat in front of her, what on earth did you expect? I mean, I know she’s a nurse, but that is new, even for her.”

Right, shit.

Shaking his head, he walks past me and passes a piece of paper to Blair and says carefully, “These are your results,” and I hear her gasp, probably shocked that she indeed doesn’t have a concussion, which I honestly thought she did have, but I don’t look at her, I fucking can’t.

“Blaze,” Trick says, but I shake my head and snap, “Not now, brother!” as I place my hands on my hips while my girl asks, “Has anyone heard from Crash yet?” trying to ease the tension, but it doesn’t fucking work.

“He’ll be in contact when he’s ready,” Trick mutters, though I feel his eyes on me.

For two months, Crash has been on a ride. He did the run then kept on going like I did without telling anyone. Cage just announced we were off without even explaining where the fucker went. He has been gone for two fucking months and only Cage knows exactly what went down with Belle. Belle has told Clark that he needs a break after they finally spoke but when he gets back they’ve decided to move in together and he’ll give her his patch. Apparently she’s also stopped fucking up but I don’t know how true that shit is.

“Hopefully, he’ll be home soon,” Blair murmurs, but I still don’t look at her even though her voice feels off. I begin to vibrate, I can’t fucking help it, picturing burning down Elenor's fucking trailer, consuming me and making my hands itch.

“You’re off for five days. I’ve signed you off, Blair. Try and rest up,” Trick says and my jaw ticks.
