Her body fit mine with enough soft heat to strip the remaining patience from me. I walked her backward until the padded edge pressed against her ass, then leaned over her and deepened the kiss, controlling the angle with my palm along her jaw. She clutched my shoulders and arched closer, rubbing her stomach against my erection.
A rough sound climbed from my chest. I slid one hand beneath the hem of her blouse, spreading my palm over bare skin at her waist while my mouth moved along her jaw. Her pulse fluttered beneath my lips, and the flush I had been imagining all day spread down her throat as I kissed toward the square neckline.
“Calder,” she breathed, the name breaking softly when my teeth scraped over the sensitive skin beneath her ear.
I tightened my grip on her hip and pulled her harder against me. Hearing my name in that voice made my cock throb painfully.
My phone vibrated inside my jacket. I ignored it and kissed lower, feeling her head fall back as my thumb traced the underside of one full breast through the thin fabric of her bra. The phone stopped, then started again, before I had decided whether the table could withstand what I wanted to do to it.
Josie’s breathless laugh moved against my mouth. “That seems persistent.”
“Unfortunately, so is Stryker.” I lifted my head far enough to retrieve the phone without taking my hand from beneath her blouse. “What?”
“Nomad has vehicles moving from the estate-company yard,” Stryker informed me. “Get Josie secured and come to the clubhouse.”
I looked at her swollen lips and the warm color covering her chest. “She’ll be home in ten. I’ll be there in twenty.”
“Make it fifteen.”
“Then hang up and let me fucking move.”
Stryker ended the call, and I slid the phone back into my jacket before letting my gaze travel over Josie, who remained pressed against the worktable with her blouse slightly displaced and desire darkening her eyes. My hand was still warm against the bare skin at her waist, and removing it required more discipline than several military operations I remembered.
“That interruption saved your worktable,” I told her.
Josie glanced over her shoulder at the thick padded surface. “It has strong supports.”
“Not enough.”
Her laugh filled the room, and I kissed her once more. Then I pulled her blouse back into place before I gave myself another reason to ignore my president. Josie secured the room while I checked the corridor, and we left Black Castle with my hand on the small of her back.
During the drive to the boutique, I gave her the information that concerned her. “The estate company is moving vehicles out of its yard. I need to know whether they’re shifting legitimate work or clearing property before Wynnock can connect it to the stolen pieces.”
“Do you think the break-in frightened them into moving everything?” she asked, turning in the passenger seat.
“The frozen account put them on a clock. The break-in tells me they don’t know how much you recovered from your workspace.” I rested one hand over her thigh at the next light, feeling the muscle tighten beneath my palm. “You’re staying inside with your mother and my club brothers until I know where those vehicles went.”
Josie glanced down at my hand and then toward my face. “You make that sound less like a request every time.”
“Stopped being one when some bastard broke into your workroom.”
She rolled her eyes, but a faint smile pulled at her mouth as she covered my hand with hers. “You’re remarkably comfortable ordering me around.”
“Comfortable being right, baby doll,” I replied, turning onto the boutique’s street. “The two occasionally overlap.”
Smoke was already near the rear entrance when we arrived, while another brother watched the front of the shop from across the street. I walked Josie inside, confirmed her mother was upstairs, and checked the alley before returning to her. She caught my tie and pulled me down for a kiss before I could leave, surprising a low groan out of me when her tongue brushed mine.
“I thought you were in a hurry,” she murmured against my mouth.
“I was.” I tightened my hand around her waist. “Then you did that.”
Her dimple appeared. “Go to your meeting, Calder.”
I kissed her once more because she had no business sounding that sweet while ordering me anywhere. Then I looked toward Smoke. “She doesn’t leave the building alone. If she wants to cross the street, one of you fucking crosses it with her.”
Josie sighed. “I’m standing right here.”
“I know.” I ran my thumb over her lower lip, enjoying the way her breath caught. “That was for him. You already know better.”
