“How are you feeling today?” I asked, taking a sip of my drink. I coughed as the bubbles hit my throat. This glass was basically champagne with a dropper amount of orange juice.
“Like I’m ready for this little beast to get out of me.” She ran a hand over her exposed stomach and groaned. Keegan was ready to pop but she wasn’t due for another week or two.
“I’m shocked Luke even let you out of the house,” Lottie said, pushing her sunglasses on top of her dirty blonde hair.
Keegan rolled her eyes. “He dropped me off. I’m sure he’ll be back soon just to stare at me, just in case.”
We all laughed because that was definitely going to happen. Luke was a chill guy—except when it came to Keegan. I had a feeling that if they had a daughter, he was going to make her first boyfriend pee his pants in fear.
We were all on the edge of our seats about the gender of Keegan’s baby. They opted to keep it a surprise until the birth. I was way too controlling for that. If I ever had a child, I’d need to know their gender the first moment I could.
Too bad I never would.
Lottie walked up to me and nudged my shoulder, pulling me out of my thoughts. “You okay?” she asked, a furrow in her brow.
“Yeah, just tired. It’s always more exhausting when Mason is away.”
“Oh, I’m so glad you mentioned Sexy Saxley because I need to know what’s going on with you two.” Keegan clapped and did a little shimmy.
My eyes widened. “We’re hanging out.” What was I supposed to say to them? That I couldn’t sleep without him after only two months in his house? That it was the best sex I’d ever had? That his son had stolen my heart and I wasn’t sure I would ever get it back?
Maeve scoffed. “Don’t be dense, Ry. You’re dating.”
“I saw you two at Dad’s a few weeks ago. What I witnessed was not friendly in the slightest.” Keegan smirked at me.
I could feel the red creeping onto my cheeks.
“Was it you and Luke in the library level or Nolan and Maggie in the taxi level?” Lottie asked seriously.
I choked on my mimosa.
“Taxi?” I looked over at Maggie who had a sheepish look on her face.
“I should really stop telling you guys things,” she muttered.
“No, you shouldn’t, and it was more like Maeve and Colin in the pool vibes.” She winked at me.
“Oh, that’s hot,” Lottie said.
“I love that for you,” Maggie agreed.
“Good times,” Maeve said with a sparkle in her eyes.
My eyes were ping ponging around my sisters. “Do I want to know what that all means?”
“You have so much to catch up on.” Maeve sighed. One by one, they each started recounting all the crazy stories they had over the past few years. With every story, my jaw dropped. By the time we got to the fucking library situation, I wasn’t sure if I could look Luke in the eyes again.
I realized at some point that this was girl talk. My sisters were letting me into their circle—the one I wasn’t part of before. I was hearing about all the things I missed out on. Hell, even some of the stories they told I was there for but left out of. Now, I was finally being included.
I was one of the girls.
I could feel the edges of my mouth tip up as I sipped my drink and leaned against the pool wall. This feeling of inclusion was something I didn’t know I longed for.
About halfway through Maggie recounting her adventures in New York with Nolan, Keegan visibly winced. We all paused and looked over at her as she took a deep breath.
“Are you okay, Keegs?” Maeve placed her glass down on the poolside tray and walked over to her.
Keegan nodded and ran a hand over her stomach. “Yeah, just some Braxton Hicks contractions. The doctor said I might feel them as we get closer to the due date.”
