I pay them little attention, and tune them out completely when I notice how antsy Forrest is. His legs bounce as he gnaws on his lower lip. This level of anxiety is contagious with so many people at my back.
We sit ringside, close enough to drown in the dried sweat on the canvas. The only thing between us and the fighters are black ropes and a judges’ table.
The crowd screams as the announcer calls out yet another name. Being surrounded by the noise makes my ears ache, a fuzzy static sound lingering even as the cheering ebbs and flows.
Forrest flinches with the next round of fanatics, and I break my silence, intuition kicking me in the cunt.
“You’re worried about him?”
“Yeah. He normally texts me while he’s backstage, but he hasn’t.”
I nod, not knowing what to say to make him feel better.
“He’s totally fine, though,” Forrest reassures himself. “Probably just fell asleep waiting for his name to be called.”
It sounds plausible, and Ali seems to agree, jumping into a conversation to keep him occupied.
I take a minute to glance around the indoor arena. The mass amount of people packed into this place is astounding, but apparently there are some big names on the card for tonight.
Including Collin Ruttley, though I had to search him on the internet before I believed him.
The kangaroo shifter is hot shit.
Walker’s hand suddenly tightens around mine as Drew’s low growl reaches my ears, tugging me from my perusal of the crowd. When I look at them for answers, Ali blocks my view.
“Four more fights until Collin gets in the ring.”
“Okay,” I drawl. “Why are you all acting so much stranger than normal?”
Ali scowls. “Clay just sat at a table on the other side of the ring.”
“Has he seen us?”
“He would be blind to miss you in this crowd.”
I lean around Ali, seeking the insane swan. And sure enough, the motherfucker is staring right at us.
“We can leave if—”
“No,” I cut in, stopping Ali before he can continue. “The two of us can’t leave. We go as a group once Collin is done.”
He nods his understanding, and my anxiety ramps up as the bell rings to start another round.
“Walker,” I whisper, covering my mouth with my hand. “You and Forrest go check on Collin.”
I can count on at least one Lawless brother acting up, so my next step is simple… In theory. But it’s also less about keeping the honey badger calm, and more about pissing the swan off.
“Ali, swap seats with Drew. He needs to be between us.”
“I won’t do anything,” Drew grumbles. “Too many people.”
“I know.” I smile at him. “If we’re going to be gawked at through the next few fights, then he’s going to get a show.”
Drew grins back at me, more teeth than charm. “Blow job in a crowded room while he watches me cum on your face?”
I glare, and Ali snorts. The bell rings once more, and the announcer calls out a winner before bringing the next fighters out.
“Fine,” the honey badger concedes. “Hand job, and you lick my cum off your fingers?”
