She must have known we’d been coming and going despite the locks, and she’d sent sex workers in. But for what purpose? To create friction between my mates and me? Or would she have sent them while I was there, too?
“Sloane,” Briggs cautioned. “She’s trying to get a rise out of you. She wants a reason to throw us all into the dungeon with Vaughn and Freya.”
I flexed my shoulders, adjusting my posture as I settled my thoughts. “Good. I want my fae back. We need to get Nate and Amelia to Valano. Then we need to make sure Freya, Ruby, and Tilly are ready. She made the first few moves; now it’s our turn. I’m tired of being idle.”
With identical nods, York and Briggs disappeared, going to scope out the situation before I got there. Which was probably the smartest decision to make… Just in case they weren’t what Novak thought they were.
I pulled my vampire into the Void with me, traveling slow and steady until I could trust myself to stay pleasantly calm. But we made it to our suite’s common room before I was ready.
Novak dropped into an armchair, and I draped myself across his lap as I surveyed the scene. Briggs stood at my right as York sat across from us, his Caribbean eyes on me.
Palmer held hands in the air, a sofa between him and an obnoxiously beautiful fae woman as he told her no. Her mauve hair swayed against her back as she shook her head at my mage like this was a game.
I told Vaughn I wouldn’t kill any fae.
But if I did…
I was going to kill her first.
Stone was seated on said sofa, a hellish grin tilting his lips as he waited for me to react. A bright lavender woman pressed closer against his side, her hand splayed across his chest suggestively. Another darker purple woman perched on the arm of the sofa, her ass dangerously close to being in his lap.
Novak huffed beneath me, his lips trailing over my shoulder as the tips of his fangs scraped against my skin. “See why I left?”
I hummed in agreement, winking at Palmer before I met Stone’s lapis gaze.
“This is a dangerous game to play,” I warned no one in particular, just the room in general.
The purple bitch turned to grin at me, her teeth bright white and sharp as razors. “Danger is a turn on. If you don’t like it, maybe you should leave these guys to someone more experienced.”
I used Vaughn’s fae glamor to mock her teeth… to test if they could see through all glamor or if the small act would go undetected. As badly as I wanted to kill them for touching my guys, I couldn’t pass up the chance to learn a little firsthand knowledge.
“Put your glamor away, baby fae,” Mauve drawled, finally looking away from Palmer. “If you want the vampire to kill you so badly, we won’t stop you.”
Novak grinned against my skin as he mumbled, “How mad would you be if I killed you, Trouble?”
“Depends on the moment,” I admitted, wiggling in his lap.
The women truly were stunning, even if they were pissing me off. Mauve had long, pin straight hair down to her waist, a shade darker than her skin. Her eyes glimmered a pastel rose, lashes thick and feathered.
Lavender had plum-colored ringlets piled on top of her head, a few stray strands bouncing against her cheeks. Eyes like liquid amethyst gazed languidly around the room as she stroked my demon’s chest.
And Purple was much the same, except completely mirrored to Lavender, making me wonder if they were sisters.
Each one was dressed more scantily than the last, showing as much skin as humanly—faely?—possible without flashing nipples or pussy lips… Not that I didn’t enjoy dressing skanky on occasion, but I didn’t often walk around in nothing but lingerie.
At home was one thing… But with total strangers?
Maybe on Halloween. If I had Jack with me.
Or maybe I was being prudish.
I couldn’t decide.
“What are you thinking, Trouble?” Novak inquired.
“If we skinned them, do you think we could use their flesh as upholstery? Or do you think it would lose its color?”
“I don’t know,” he responded thoughtfully, then countered, “Would you use lotion to clean and polish it? Or would you have to mist it regularly to keep it from dehydrating?”
